Silence is Deadly
Your a Liar, Mum.
It was then that I woke up in a bright room, sunlight streaming though the window next to lumpy bed I was laying on. I felt stiff, like I hadn’t moved in days, maybe even weeks.
It was then that I started to feel other pains.
My lungs were killing me.
Suddenly, like someone had switched on a light, I remember why they where hurting so much.
The accident.
It was strange my first thought was ‘Jesus, I can’t feel my legs.’ That thought was quickly overtaken by the thought of my friends.
I went straight in to a panic frenzy.
I felt someone touching my hand, I felt so light, so gentle. I looked up into the eyes of my mum, and almost calmed. Almost.
Then in whispers she explained.
I felt the horror on my face as I listened.
