Damon loves Elena but she's dating his brother Stefan. Damon and Stefan are vampires. Elena's cousin, Margaret McCullough is a vampire hunter. She finds herself back in her hometown of Mystic Falls which has become crowded with vampires. She hates vampires but has a special animosity with Damon.
