Brilliance

Her eyes widened and she stepped away. "You're the Doctor." It wasn't a question. She looked up at me, glancing at the angel every few seconds, and stared into my face, completely unafraid. And I was afraid of her just a little. I was afraid of her brilliance and her confidence, of how she knew me already.

"How do you know me? That doesn't matter now, right. What matters is that you keep looking at the statue."

She laughed a little. "Doctor. It's not an Angel, which we both know. I saw your blue box and I wanted to meet you. To answer your question, you knew my parents. They never forgot you."

I was shocked, to say the least. Yes, she was right. That was no angel, just a statue. But how had she known? "Who were your parents?" I asked her, and she smiled.

"My surname is Nightingale. Sally and Larry Nightingale are my mum and dad."
