It's Only a Dance Step

Wednesday was like any other except for the fact that for my first period I met with Damon, and the happy Stevenlers.

For the whole time, Damon and I were doing our solos. Damon with Mr. Stevenler and me with Mrs. Stevenler. We couldn’t help but look at each other when our instructors were showing us how to do a move properly.

And more than once, Mrs. Stevenler was not afraid to show that I was distracted.

“Desera, dear, I know Damon’s behind is an amazing view…but you have to get this step down first.”

Everyone froze. Everyone as in, Damon, Mr. Stevenler, and myself. Crap!

I quickly looked away and focused on my feet on the barre. I heard Damon chuckle and glanced up to meet his eyes through the mirror. He smiled when he saw me and then continued with his own steps. But Damon wasn’t so innocent himself during our first period.

“Damon…please. Concentrate. Again.” Mr. Stevenler’s voice sounded annoyed. I looked up at the mirror and saw him staring; he sure didn’t seem to be hiding it either. I chuckled a bit myself and refocused on my solo.

The bell rang, concluding our first class.

“Damon, Desera, we won’t be able to make our after school practice. You two meet up though and work on the piece.” Mr. Stevenler told us.

“Is everything okay?” I asked as I slipped my regular shoes on.

“Yes. Just that my sister is being a pain, that’s all.” Mrs. Stevenler said laughing a bit and shook her head. “Don’t worry.” She reassured us.

“Okay.” Damon replied and opened the door for me.

“Thank you.” I stepped out and looked up at him. “Uh…see you later then?”

“Definitely.” He smiled before he turned the other way and took his phone out to answer a call. I cursed myself for blushing again and then went to my next class.

“I can’t believe you have someone wanting you!”

“Geez Dessy! Don’t say it that way! You make it sound SO wrong!” Candice replied with laughter and shook her head while she stretched.

“I’m serious though! I’m jealous!” I told her and did the splits.

“Relax Desera. We all know that there is someone out there just waiting to get their hands on you!” Chace smirked once he realized what he had just said.

“Holy fuck you guys! I’m the one with the perverted mind here! Not you two!” Candice sent us both a glare but couldn’t help but laugh as well.

A substitute came in and told the class to keep stretching for another five minutes. Damon entered the room right after him and I noticed how everyone in the classroom stopped what they were doing and looked at Damon. But Damon’s eyes were only on one person.

And that person was me.

I smiled shyly and waved him over. He smirked a bit and ignored all those around him or calling for his attention as he made his way over.

“Hello Chace, Candice.” He smiled and nodded at them.

“Well hello lover boy!” Candice replied with a smirk and batted her eyelashes.

Chace chuckled and said, “Hey Damon.”

“Desera.” He met my light hazel eyes and smiled. It was a smile that he only shared with me.

Which made me feel as special as a star!

“Hey.” I simply said and continued to stretch.

The substitute teacher clapped his hands and told the kids to do a simple floor routine and then work across the floor. It was a pretty boring class to be honest. But with Damon at my side, I didn’t notice one bit.

I met Damon at the end of the day in the studio and smiled to myself when I saw him dancing his solo. He would be a perfect prince in Swan Lake.

Although, he made an amazing prince now in real life too.

“Ready?” He asked with a raised eyebrow and a playful smirk on his lips. I shook my head and set my bag back on the floor, not realizing I was staring all this time.

“Yep!” I walked over and stood beside him. “Where from?”

From there, we picked a spot and began the routine. I was doing a better job at acting as Odile in the dance, or at least that’s what Damon and our instructors lead me to believe. But the lift still caused me some trouble.

Damon chuckled and shook his head. “You’re doing fine. Come on, let’s try it again.” He said after the first run through of lift.

“Oh but there’s no need! I’m here to help demonstrate how it’s done!” A very ugly and disturbing voice said coming from the doors. But the moment I turned my head to look at her she was already running toward Damon’s arms for the lift. Damon, having no other choice, caught her and easily lifted her up in the air. He held her up there and turned. The move was perfectly done, and their bodies knew how to react to one another.

I swallowed hard and crossed my arms. I knew Percilla was bragging and showing off. How did she even get into the school or studio? I had no idea. But that didn’t hide the fact that I was extremely pissed off right now. I didn’t even bother to watch her movements. The only one I was watching, was Damon’s.

Percilla eventually came down. And not just down to the floor. I mean down as in down on Damon with a huge, fat, kiss on his lips.

Those lips that were just as stubborn as my own.

I was boiling with anger now. So much anger I stomped off and threw my bag over my shoulder. Apparently our class had ended.

“Percilla! God damnit! Leave! Now!” I heard Damon’s voice roar in the room, but I paid no attention as I made my way out of the studio and toward the girls dorms.

“Dersera, it’s really not what it looked like…I know, very cheesy line of mine, but it’s really true.” He said easily catching up with me.

“Whatever Damon. Just leave me alone for once.”

“No. Not when you’re leaving because you think something is going on between Percilla and I. Which is definitely not the case.”

“Oh REALLY!” I yelled and turned to face him, our faces just inches apart. “Then what the hell was that kiss huh? Are you really expecting me to believe that the kiss was absolutely NOTHING?”

“Yes.” He stated sternly.

“Then you can go to hell.” I snapped back and left him standing there while I made my way toward the girl’s dorm room, feeling sick to my stomach.

Sick to my stomach and hurting right in the heart.
