Guardian Angel

In the morning, I woke up to a kiss on the cheek. I opened my eyes, only to be staring into Aiden’s surprised green orbs.

“I thought you were asleep,” he whispered.

Apparently, sometime in my sleep, I’d turned over and hugged myself to him. I was in my human form, so I must have shifted as well.

“I was. That was a nice wake-up call though,” I smiled with a blush covering my cheeks.

“I agree,” he replied while looking at my arms that were wrapped around him still. I quickly removed them as my blush intensified.

Emma wiggled behind me, waking up. I quickly pressed my lips to Aiden’s cheek before she awoke. I got up and looked around the clearing. Daemon’s body and the lioness were gone, Lucas was nowhere to be seen.

I stretched before going to my bag to get everyone their breakfast. After eating, the three of us continued on into the forest, hoping to find a new place to settle. My hand found Aiden’s as we walked, a smile formed on both of our faces. We have a long way ahead of us, but I couldn’t ask for better company.
