Best Intentions

The next day I woke up, to the sound of my alarm, on the carpet. Cass was sitting on the couch still asleep. I stood up and cooked some french toast for breakfast. I woke Cass up and she made some coffee while I woke Rosie up. Rosie quickly got out off her bed and ran to the kitchen in her pajamas. I put some french toast on her plate while she gobbled them down. Cass took a shower while Rosie and I were eating. As soon as Rosie finished her food I told her to take a shower and get ready for school. I finished my food, then washed the dishes. As soon as I finished I took a shower too. Next thing you know we were out of the building and driving off to Rosie's preschool. We got to the school just in time.
"Bye mom! By Aunt Cass" she said
"Bye kiddo!" Cass said
"Bye honey! I love you!" I told her
"I love you too, mommy" she said before she left the car
"Come on! We're gonna be late for work" Cass said
The ride to work was a whole 30 minutes. That's how far my home was to the other side of the city.

The day wasn't half done and it was boring, not much people were coming in today. But that was fine with Cass and I. It only meant that we would have less people to entertain.
Finally, I got used to the idea that no one else would be coming in so I decided to take a nap, when the door rang. I looked at the person who came in. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was stunned. And surprised. As soon as the person walked in I knew that he was trouble. He couldn't be anything but trouble.
"Tay, is that you?" Alex asked in shock to find me working here
"Yeah." I said blankly
"I haven't seen you in.." he said trying to count the years
"5 years" I cut him off.
"It's been that long already? Since you rejected my sorry ass?" he asked me. I wasn't ready for this. I wasn't planning on answering his question. I just stared at him in shock. Unable to process his words. I couldn't believe that he was here. In front of me. Finally he broke the silence
"I missed you, Tay" he said. I smiled at him not knowing what to say. I was thrown off by what he said. He broke the silence once more "what? Not even one word from you? After you basically just told me that you didn't want me?" I was thrown off once more.
"Alex, it's not like that!" I told him
"Then what is it like?" he raised his voice at me
"This is why we stopped being friends in the first place, Alex. You raising your voice at me and things getting out of hand. I was thrown off by what you said, Alex. I couldn't believe that you were here. In front of me. After all these years! You can't just expect me to say something just like that. I needed to process everything that's happening right now. It's kinda a lot to take in!" I yelled back at him trying to fight back the tears that formed in my eyes.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you. I'm pretty shocked that you work here too. But, Tay we can't just ignore each other. We can't just ignore the situation. It's been five years and we're still not okay. You're my bestfriend, Tay. I just got you back and I don't want to let you go. Not now. Not ever."
"We've done it for years, Alex. Five, in fact. I think we can go on like this for a little bit longer." I told him. He looked at me. It's like he was shocked by what I said or something. I got up. And told the manager that I was going home early because I felt sick. Apparently Cass followed me
"Cass you didn't have to. You could've just stayed. There are no people there you know. That store kinda needs you" I told her
"Yeah, and so do you" she told me

Cass and I picked up Rosie a few minutes ago. We decided to go to Mom's house. And besides, Rosie really wanted to go to the park and I didn't want to bring her to the park in our neighborhood. When we got there Lindsey and Sam welcomed me. It's been awhile since I last saw them. I was really happy to see them again. Cass, Sam, Lindsey and I took Rosie to the park. Sam and Cass were playing with Rosie. Lindsey and I just spent most of the time catching up. We went back to the house and I decided that maybe Rosie and I should stay here for just a few days. I enjoyed the comfort of my family. Sam and I helped Mom prepare dinner while Lindsey replaced Sam and played with Rosie. After dinner Cass decided that maybe it was time to go back to her apartment so she did. I tuck Rosie in, again she asked me to sing for her. It's becoming a normal thing now. She reminds me so much of her father. But I didn't want to think about that now. Soon, she was fast asleep and I went out of the room. I was watching tv with Sam
"So.. He's back." Sam told me
"I know" I told her
"You know? How?" She asked, surpised
"He stopped by the store earlier and we got into a fight." I explained to her
"Already?" She asked which made me laugh
"Yeah, already"I told her
"Well I'm going to bed, kiddo. Night" she told me
"Night" I replied
Soon after Sam left. I felt sleepy too. So I went back to my old room and slept beside Rosie.
