I'm On a Trip

Chapter Eight

Charlotte's P.O.V:

I honestly had a great night last night but I couldn't help but notice John's eyes following my every move. I didn't like the way that he looked at me like he could see right through me, I liked to keep myself to myself but it was weird. I've never felt like someone could tell my exact trail of thought but I felt like he had complete control of it. I'm freaked out to be honest. When we were outside I noticed the way he kept staring at the tattoo on my arm, then my eyes and then out ahead of him, it was like he was in deep thought.

Nevermind, I had spent my entire morning nursing Sophie because of her hang over. She really let herself go last night and that isn't her, well she goes wild but she was insanely drunk last night! I took the opportunity to ask her this morning.

"Why did you get yourself in such a state last night?" I asked her straight up, completely serious.

She lied on the sofa with a glass of water while sighing. "The alcohol is stronger over here I think," she mumbled.

"Don't lie to me, I can tell when you lie, you didn't even look me in the eye," I replied raising my eyebrows.

"Jamie broke up with me by text," she blurted out in a rush.

"Bastard, I knew he was a prick, forget about him, it's not like you'll find someone else you're beautiful," I truefully stated, she looked so miserable.

"I had a gut feeling things would change when we got out on our travels...I bet he has been seeing someone else while I'm away," she stuttered between gasps, as I pulled her into a hug while she let the tears fall down her now red cheeks.

"Don't cry over him, he isn't worth it," I added rubbing her back to try and steady her. After a while she soon settled down and a smile soon appeared on her face.

"You know what! If he can get over me that quick I can too. I won't give him the satisfaction of making me miserable! She piped up, smiling. That's when I knew I had the old Sophie back again, it didn't take long, she could just wipe her mind clean but I couldn't.

"You're alright to come to their home-coming party then?" I smiled at her.

"Sure, who asked you to go?" She questioned.

"Erm..John why?" I asked confused.

"Oh that's what you were doing outside?" She winked.

"So you do happen to remember something from your drunken night!" I giggled back at her.

"Bits of it," she mumbled, smiling to herself.

It was two o'clock and I walked towards the door of what I think was his house. Well this was where the address, that was scribbled down on a random piece of paper lead us to. I talked ahead of Sophie and rang to doorbell hoping they would hear it.

To my surprise the door opened almost immediately to reveal a very gorgeous John, oh shit, I didn't just think that! Clearing that thought from my head, I looked at my feet and mumbled a quick "hey" before the door was opened wider for me to walk in.

John's P.O.V

I heard the doorbell go and I instantly knew who it would be. I dashed over to the door, stumbling over Kennedy, as he was about to answer the door. He chuckled from behind me just as I was about to open the door, but I shrugged it off. I opened my door to see her stood before me with Sophie standing behind her, waiting to come in.

She looked so innocent her bright brown eyes glistening as she waited to see if it was the right house, when she locked eyes with mine, her eyes instantly fell down to the ground shyly. She mumbled a short and sweet "hey" in her stunning English accent. I couldn't help but let my eyes study what she was wearing before staring at her tattoo again, I opened the door allowing her to walk in to stop an awkward scene occuring, if it hadn't already.

I grabbed them some drinks before leading them out into the garden where our parents were. I quickly introduced the girls to my parents before the other guys parents. Garrett was working on the barbecue while Kennedy and Pat were mucking around in the pool now and Jared was still talking to his parents.

"Feel free to do what you like," I smiled at both of the girls.

"Sure," Sophie said before heading over to talk to Garrett by the barbecue.

"So you managed to get her home alright, last night?" I asked to strike off a conversation.

"Yeah," she sighed, "she's not normally like that but erm...well..." she stuttered before carrying on, "I hope she don't mind me saying but her boyfriend broke up with her over a text," she sighed.

"Ouch, that's evil!" I responded, not knowing what to say.

"Yeah, I wish I could get over things like her, I think too much for my own good sometimes," she replied smiling, while taking a sip of the orange juice I had got her earlier.

"I know exactly what you mean," I replied, knowing what she meant. She looked at me with a confused look on her face and that's when I decided to tell her. "Well, em, oh shit I'm just going to say it, my girlfriend broke up with me a few days ago, she cheated on me and I can't forgive her for it but then I think maybe if I had been there she wouldn't have done it," I sighed letting a weight off of my shoulders, I can't exactly talk to the guys like this to them, it's different.

The words I heard come out her mouth next I didn't exactly expect. "She doesn't know what sort of mistake she has made then does she," Charlotte smiled back at me.

"Wha-what do you mean?" I asked confused.

"Well you seem like a great guy who seems to care a lot more than other men I know," she replied taking yet another small sip of her drink.

"Thanks," I smiled turning my head away from her slightly to disguise my smile while I took a sip of the beer I had in my hand. I then turned back to face her and blurted out, "I hope you don't mind me asking but what does your tattoo mean?"

She looked around her for anyone else and whispered "If you want to know, I'll tell you somewhere quiet so have you got somewhere to sit," mumbled and stuttering as she went.

I nodded and as a spare of the moment thing took her hand in mine and walked her to my bedroom where I knew no-one would come in and interrupt us.

Charlotte's P.O.V

I knew I had to talk to it about someone, so I thought I'd tell him the whole story, he'd probably understand and not judge me. I mean he seems to be an understanding person and I'm sure he will be a great friend of mine in the future, but only if he wants to be too. Like I couldn't help but notice the electricity between us when he took my hand in his as he led me to his bedroom. He would be a great friend and not my friend who is in the band 'The Maine' he will simply be a true friend called John who I might happen to get on very well with later on once we understand each other, so far we seem quite similar.

Not to judge people but to be observant.
