Still No Change In Her State

I gave Jay her medicine this morning when I woke up and she still hadn’t moved from how I laid her down last night. The lack of her sleeping already brought bags under her eyes and I felt bad for the kid. All she has now is us. I sat in my office dressed and ready to leave for the funeral home but I was making sure everyone was ready for the services. Ry had dressed Jay all in black and she was sitting next to Jay in the living room.

“Has she moved?” I asked Ry as I entered the living room.

“No sir. She never glanced at me when I was washing her and dressing her for this evening.”

“I don’t know what else I should do.” I said honestly.

“She just needs some time.” I pulled Jay into the standing position and hooked my arm with hers.

“If anything happens here, call right away.” I said leading her out of the room.

“Should I prepare dinner?”

“Yes. I’ll see if I can get her to eat something.” I said as we all left the house. I led Jay over the SUV and strapped her in. Jimmy was driving and we had 5 cars full of security that were heavily armed as he drove to the funeral home.

Jimmy parked in a space at the vacant funeral home and I helped Jay out of the car and into the building surrounded by the armed guards. I sat Jay down in a seat next to me and Syn. Several guard stood at entrances and various places around the funeral home and the chapel we were in. The preacher talked about the life of Jack from the information I had given him. Soon the bearers took the closed casket out of the home and we left and got into the car where we followed behind the hearse to the grave site. I had arranged where Jack would be placed right beside Grace. I continued to watch Jay looking for some kind of sign that she was snapping out of her dazed state of mind but she never did. Jacoby has broken her so badly and I know she’ll be in heartbreak for the rest of her life until the man is dead and put into the ground 6 feet.

I took a hold of Jay’s hand and led her back to the SUV and we went home. We all piled into the house to the smell of food and I sat Jay back at the kitchen table.

“I want him dead.” We all just about choked on our food as Jay finally said something.

“I want him to feel what I’m feeling.” She said looking around at us. I was too shocked to comprehend what was going on. She looked down at the food in front of her and started to eat. When she finished she got up from the table leaving us dumbfounded.

“Did she just really talk?”

“Yeah and ate.” Jimmy said smiling. I pushed my plate of food away and went into the living room where she sat being as quiet as a mouse.

“Jay?” I said and she looked up at me.

“Shads…” tears ran down her face and I immediately went over to her and brought her close to me as she wept. I petted the back of her head as she calmed. I looked down at her and she was fast asleep. I picked her up bridal style and took her up to her room and laid her down. She looked in peace.
