Me, Myself, and I
we found love in a hopeless place
Selvig put me straight to work, configuring a bunch of data on one of the spare laptops. A few hours past and I made sure to keep my head down and stay out of trouble. I just wanted to prove to Loki that I was on his side no matter what. The computer was running the last few calculations and then it would be done. I couldn't believe that it was almost time for the war, one that we would surely win. My body surged with a new found energy and I was sick of waiting for the results so I decided to go and find Loki. I made my way over towards Selvig, “hey, the computer is in the final stage of running the statistics so I'm going to go and find the boss.” He gave a slight nod in approval and went straight back to work. So with that out of the way, I made my way to the back of the building where Loki was sure to be.
I finally found the back room where Loki usually sat and contemplated what he was going to be doing. The door sat at the end of a long hallway which was almost completely pitch black, the only light being the eerie blue glow coming from beneath the door at the end. My hands glided carefully over the walls as I made my way closer to end. It seemed to go on for forever, like in one of the dreams where no matter how fast you run the door just keeps slipping further and further from your reach. Sadly this was not one of those times.
Finally, I reached the door. I took in a shaky breath as I prepped myself for what I was going to say. The words kept going around and around in my head as I fumbled with the door knob. I didn’t understand what was wrong with me, usually nothing ever bothered me. I was always calm under pressure, but when I was around Loki it was like I was five years old again standing in front of my foster mum having to explain what had happened this time. He made my insides quiver with fear, but at the same time I loved him. I couldn't believe what I had just said, I had never felt this strongly towards any one and I barley knew him, but still I felt a bond that tugged at my heart every time we were away from one another.
I finally got up the nerve to enter the room and when I entered I couldn't believe what I saw. It was Loki, but it couldn't be. He was standing with his back to the door gazing at himself in a mirror. His skin was a beautiful glacier blue and his eyes burned like embers in a roaring fire. He held the tesseract cube in his hand and he looked unsure of what to do next. The door I was hanging on to decided to give way as I fell to the floor with a loud thud, causing Loki to turn towards me.
He had a look of anger, mixed with curiosity placed firmly upon his face as he neared closer and closer to me. He grasped the material of my shirt in his had as he yanked me up off of the floor. Our faces were mere inches apart and I could feel his hot breath upon my face as he talked “what are you doing here” his voice was thick with malice and yet I was no longer afraid of him.
He still clutched onto the cube in one had which I now learned gave him his icy blue appearance. He must have noticed me staring because he released me from his grip and stalked off towards the mirror. I inched my way over to where he was standing, and all the words I had planned on saying had vacated my brain. He placed the cube onto the table, allowing his appearance to change back to its normal porcelain white skin and jade colored eyes.
A small chuckle escaped through his lips as he turned to look at me “now you have seen me for what I truly am, a monster, the thing parents tell their children about so they don't act out...who could ever love that” he pointed to himself in the mirror as he touched the cube. He sat it back down on the table as his fist collided with the mirror, shattering it into a million pieces. Small slivers of glass cut my feet as I moved even closer to him, but I didn't even care. I brought my hand up and gently turned his face towards mine “me” was all I said as I brought my lips to meet his. To my surprise it only took a minute for him to kiss me back. The kiss was sweet, soft, but still held that passion in it. It sent sparks flying throughout my entire body. It only lasted for a split second, but it was the happiest moment in my life.
