We never said it out loud, but after all that we’d been through together (even though more was to come), we became friends. Not the mushy, gushy, always together never leave my sight type of friends, but the ones that were even better than that. The ones that just hang out, that just knew when you needed them. We were separate, yet together. We were friends.
