You Are the Greatest Thing That Ever Happened to Me

First thing I did when i woke up was answering my phone
"Hello" I mumbled
"Hi dear! I'm sorry I woke you up but this is the only free time I have. You kids have to be ready later okay? We're going out for dinner, with the Gomez family" dad said
"Oh sure. umm, do we have to dress in formal?" I asked
"No not at all. Just your normal outfits. Okay see you later, we'll pick you up at 6" dad said and he hung up. Dad's like... the busiest guy ever

"Hey so, we have dinner later and they'll pick us up at 6" I announced as we were eating breakfast in the living room
"Shit, do we have to dress all.... formal?" John whined
"That's the good news! We're gonna wear normal clothes" I laughed
"Jeez, Adelaide. Why didn't you tell us that you were 'this' rich?" Sierra asked
"Why should I? I wouldn't prove anything" I laughed
"Well, everyone would want to be your friend" Chesca said
"Ugh, screw that, I don't wanna be a rich kid with fake friends. I'm happy with you guys!" I smiled
"Awwwww. We love you Adelaide!" Paige awed
"Wait so anyway" Stephen started "Have you told them yet?"
"Told us what?" Sierra asked
"Oh, Stephen's my date for prom" I said
"No fucking way? I knew something was going on between the two of you" John pointed out "You two are in lalalalove" he sang
"Yeah right. 'Love'" Stephen winked with a sarcastic tone and it made me laugh
"You seriously believe in Love, Johnnyboy?" I asked
"Well, yeah of course I do. I mean, I knew it was real since the day her eyes met mine and I felt it, my heart pumped wildly, I couldn't breath much because she took my breath away, she knocks me off my feet with her beauty, and every single thing about her is pure perfection. I love her" John sighed, but I think he's not quite sure with his words "Stephen, I really love Jess. So much" he added and Stephen just laughed at his little brother and messed with his hair

Our parents picked us up at 6:30 and we headed off to a restaurant and thank God it wasn't fancy. We were wearing casual clothes. I felt very comfortable because I was in my normal clothes and Carla wasn't around, just dad, Mr and Mrs Gomez and the six of us.
"So, how's your Christmas break going?" Dad asked
"Pretty well, having a lot of fun" I smiled feeling a bit guilty because I flash backed to the time when we drank.
"That's nice. Are you getting along with the girls?" Mrs Gomez asked his sons
"Yes mom!" John said and Stephen nodded and faked a smiled, I don't really know what his deal is I mean, he never smiles at his parents and if he did smile at them, it was fake
"Have you bought your dresses?" Dad asked and we nodded "Great, so Adelaide, who you going with?" dad grinned and I sighed
"Uh yeah, about that. Stephen's my date for prom" I laughed nervously "Outsiders are allowed"
"Oh that's grand! Stephen I want you to look presentable okay?" Mrs Gomez said and Stephen nodded
"You should look sharp okay?" Mr Gomez added and Stephen nodded again
"That's a nice idea. Look out for my little girl okay Stephen? Protect her from those douchebags" dad smiled
"Haha, I sure will, sir." Stephen laughed and he smiled for real he looked really cute when he smiles

The night ended really quick, feels like we only ate for an hour, well you know what they say "Time flies fast when your having fun"

"So, you're just gonna stay in the suite until the 20th huh? so you could get ready for prom?" Dad asked as we walked out of the restaurant
"Uh yeah, seems like it, guess I'll be spending Christmas at mom's" I said, I really feel guilty because dad allowed me to bring my friends over to Sydney and allowed us to stay in his big ass suite and he paid for all our expenses, it's a big deal
"Okay" dad smiled
"I'm sorry dad" I sighed
"What for?"
"I mean, you gave me the best Christmas break ever and this is how I repay you, I mean the least that I can do is spend more time with you and I'm not gonna spend Christmas with you, sorry dad" I said
"Hey, don't worry. I want you to be happy, I don't want you to feel guilty okay Adelaide? smile. smile for daddy" he smiled and so did I
"I love you dad" I hugged him and he hugged me back and said "I love you too, Adelaide"

"Stephen can I tell you something?" John asked as we entered the suite
"Sure, what?" Stephen responded
"It's just that, I think we're only here in Australia because mom and dad have some business to do with Adelaide's dad" he said as he sat on the couch and we sat around him
"Yeah well, that is the reason why we're here in the first place" Stephen explained
"Oh" John said, he seems so disappointed "I thought we were here because we were supposed to spend Christmas here and have fun"
"Hey, at least we met new friends right?" Stephen tried to cheer his brother up
"Yeah, I mean. I'm really happy I met you guys" Chesca smiled
"And we really had fun right?" Sierra added
"Didn't you have fun with us?" Paige asked
"No no, it's not that, Paige. I'm having fun. really" John said
"Then what's up?" asked Stephen
"I just want the good old days back, when mom and dad didn't have to work during Christmas season. When we always had fun as a family. I miss those days" he explained
"John, just think of it this way. Your parents are working hard for you and Stephen, they want you to have a good future. Don't be mad at them, I really believe they miss those days too, and I know they want to spend time with you too. It's just that... life's hard these days and you have to work to survive" I said, I'm not really sure about the things that I said but I hope it works "They love you, John. We all love you" I smiled and John looked up at me and smiled too
"Thank you, Adelaide" he said as he hugged me "I love you, Adelaide. You're like a sister to me. Man, all of you girls are like sisters to me" John laughed and my friends joined our hug
"Hey Stephen, why won't you join this group hug?" I laughed and Stephen smirked and joined in. People may think that group hugs are gay but for us, a group hug is a sign of love.

"Hey" Stephen said as he walked towards me, I was in the balcony again, thinking
"Sup" I smiled
"Nothing much, just wanna ask you something" he said
"Uhh, okay, go"
"I thought you didn't believe in love?" he asked
"I don't"
"Then why did you tell John that you loved him and we all loved him?" he asked, he looked really confused
"Oh yeah, well the love that I don't believe in is the romantic kind of love, it's bullshit. But, I believe in the love of family, friends and God" I explained
"God?" Stephen asked and I nodded "You believe in God?" he asked
"Of course I do! Why not? Why don't you?" I asked
"No" he mumbled
"Why?" I asked, I was really shocked, I'm a believer of God and I have faith in Him
"I dunno" he said "I'm just.. just confused with the whole thing, I'm sorry if you got mad"
"No, I'm not mad. Just surprised. I believe in God, He gave us all of these blessings and I thank Him for that, Jesus saved us from our sins and we're all saved because of Jesus. I just.... I just love God so much, I love Him" I smiled
"You know what?" Stephen said and for a moment I got nervous because he might walk out and get mad at me "You're right" he smiled and I sighed in relief
"I'm right?" I asked
"Yeah, God gave us all these blessings and Jesus sacrificed for us. You know, I should really be thankful to God, without Him there is no me" he smiled
"Right" I nodded
"And I thank Him because He gave me the best blessing ever" he smiled
"And what's that?" I asked
"You" Stephen smiled and I felt the butterflies in my stomach and I can't help but smiled back at him.
