The New Queen
Hard Times Ahead
Since Anna was gone at worlds living her dreams, her family was having problems back at home. They avoided it with Anna whenever she was home and on the phone so she didn’t worry. Anna liked to think she could provide for her family when really Anna took her prize money and put it in a bank for Anna’s future college education.
But inbetween choosing the world team and going to worlds, Anna’s father, Adnan had lost his company. It was bought out by another big company and he lost all rights to it. Adnan quickly retuned home but when Anna was home he just said he was working from home for a while.
They really didn’t want her to worry. She had the potential to win worlds again and they didn’t want to stress her out. Every little thing made her a little stressed out and that would send her over the edge.
Anna’s mom, Alina did not work but since Adnan lost his business they both looked for jobs. With five kids at home it wasn’t an ideal situation.
Her parents moved out of their beautiful four bedroom house into a smaller two bedroom house to keep the bills smaller. At one pointed they started to tap into Anna’s prize money to pay some of the bills. They were absolutely ashamed by it.
Eventually both parents had small jobs that brought money in, but it was super hard to keep up. Soon all of Anna’s prize money was gone. If Anna got hurt or needed anything her parents wouldn’t have any money to pay. It was not good at all.
After worlds she won more money with her three gold from the AA, floor and beam finals and then a bronze from the team final. That helped pay more bills. Anna told them to spend it on themselves for being so supporting but they couldn’t.
They told Anna to keep training until Christmas since the new house wasn’t completely ready. It was a lie, they just didn’t want her to see the major downgrades they had been making.
At one point they started to sell things to make some extra money on the side to replace Anna’s prize money. It was a complicated process that saw no end.
Finally Alina came up with an idea. Some neighbors from their old neighborhood needed a surrogate. They were willing to pay enough to cover a good chunk of the debts the family was in. Alina went for it and told Anna she was pregnant again.
