The New Queen

The New President

Anna felt like her life was kind of empty when she turned 50. She had two grandchildren and a young daughter. She had accomplished many things in her life but felt like she could do more.
After her 50th birthday she got certified to judge gymnastics. In her first year she did mostly local lower level meets. As the years went on she got higher and higher and eventually got to judge international competitions such as worlds. After five years of being a judge she wanted more. The FIG’s presidency was coming to an end, so Anna decided she was going to run for it. She easily got it with her extensive resume.
Anna was the president of the FIG which pretty much controls everything about gymnastics competitions. She changed many things in her ten years of being president. She changed the code to emphasize elegance and balletic styles. She added more dance skills into compulsory routines. She created the Junior world championships held at the same time as the senior world championships. She also made the teams a 6 person team instead of 5.
She had made some radical decisions but she did it for the best. People knew where she was coming from because she was a gymnast. Most presidents of the FIG weren’t Olympic gymnasts like Anna was.
As Anna was approaching her 70’s birthday she had a lot of things to look forward to. The year she turned 71 she would get to watch the olympics take place in Moscow. The first time since 1980. She was also going to see a new resurgence in the Russian team. Both male and female teams were expected to win the gold. She also had more grandchildren from Yuliya and even one from Tatyana. She had a successful marriage to Tom. She was also super in shape unlike other 70 year olds. She looked like she was 50 still.
