Well, Who's to Say You'll Have to Do it Alone?

-Fast forward a week-

Today was gonna be a crazy day, i had to go meet with my lawyer, Brooks lawyer, and sadly Brook. I was leaving Caitlyn with Jack while i was out. At about six i headed over to the law office and Brook was sitting in the waiting room, i sat a few seats away.

"Hey" she said softly

"Hi" i said checking my messages

"Hows my little girl?" she asked

"Do you sincerely wanna know?" i said looking at her raising my eyebrow

"Of course!, i still care about her" she said a little hurt

"Shocking. A mother that loves her child doesnt abandon her" i said crossing my arms

"Alex" she sighed

"Well shes doing just fine, no thanks to you" i said

"Alex you dont have to be such a dick" she said mad and picked up a magazine

"Dont even start with me, don't. I have every right to be a dick" i said

"Alex and Brook?" a receptionist asked poking her head out the door, good thing she came before we ripped eachother to shreds

"Yeah?" i said

"Follow me" she said and we followed her

We went into a big meeting room, her lawyer was on one side and mine was on the other. Thank god i dont need to sit near her. I sat down and i could already tell that this was gonna be world war 3.

"This meeting is over custody rights. Want do you both want?" Brooks lawyer said

"Well i'd like to atleast see her like every weekend" Brook said and i scoffed, couldnt believe what i was hearing

"Okay. Alex?" her lawyer said

"Well i'd like full custody, i mean she did just leave Caitlyn on my doorstep. Literally. She didnt feel like she could handle the responsibility so whats the sudden urge to parent?, guilt?" i said

"I relised that i really love her, and i dont feel like i can handle it full time. Alls im asking Alex is one or two days a week. Is it that hard for you to hand her over?" Brook asked

"Yes. Its so hard to even consider your wants when you didnt want her!" i said getting annoyed

"Look!, your lucky im not asking for full custody. Considering i'd definitely get it!" she said

"What are you talking about?" i said mad

"I have a good job, your in a band. Tours will happen, what will you do with her?!. You know i almost considered trying to get my mom the custody but i know you love her so i didn't!" she said angry

"What?!, this is ridiculous!" i yelled

"Alright settle down. Alex, why dont we just start out with the weekend visits for now" my lawyer said

"Why?, arnt you suppose to be on my side!?" i said to her

"I am. And i see where your coming from. But by the rules of my job and the law the only way she cant have any custody is if shes a unfit mother. The judge will definitely grant her some custody" she said

"This is going to court?" i said

"Of course it is" she said

"Fine. Weekends only" i said and Brook smiled

We finished up the meeting and i left. I called Rian and told him to meet me at a bar, i know i was gonna cut out drinking but i need it now. A little while he showed up and sat next to me looking concerned.

"Hey Alex, is everything okay?" he asked, he could probably tell somthing was up by the redness of my eyes and me tugging on my hair

"Rian, shes gonna get some custody" i said dramatic. I was slightly drunk

"Who?" he asked

"Brook!, shes asked for Caitlyn on weekends and she'll most likely get them. My lawyer said the judge will give it to her" i said

"Im sorry dude" he said

"I wanted her out of Caitlyns life, i did this custody thing for her. Because her moms a soulless spawn of satan. But now Brooks gonna be in her life and you know Caitlyn will find out about Brooks idiotic move when she's older because i cant lie to her about this entire messed up situation" i said

"Dude, i hate to say it but she'd probably find out either way" he said

"Not really. I couldve planned to lie. Say Brook died or something" i said drinking some of my drink and he laughed

"Thats terrible!" he said

"Well i dont care" i said and he shook his head

"Your to drunk" he said

"Good" i said

Later when we left the bar Rian drove me home in my car, he didnt want me driving at all. When we got home i could hear Jack talking to Caitlyn in the kitchen. I walked in and Caitlyn squealed when she saw me and Jack turned to face me.

"Hey dude, hey Rian" Jack said

"Hey" Rian said

"Why are you here?" Jack asked him

"Alex called me to drink with him. Hes got a little to wasted and i had to drive him home" Rian said

"Oh man. How'd it go Alex" Jack said

"Bad. She might get some custody" i said

"What?!" he said

"I'll explain it later, give me my baby" i said and Jack backed up

"Dude no, your drunk and smell discusting. Atleast go bathe or something" he said

"I-...fine" i said and went to shower

I took a quick shower and then changed into comfy clothes. I sat on the couch and picked up my phone and listened to the voicemail i had. It was my lawyer telling me we had to go to court on tuesday at 12, thats three days from now. I sighed and tossed my phone on the table, great i was hoping this would take longer but i guess not. Jack sat next to me with Caitlyn and sat her in my lap.

"Hey" he said

"Hey, wheres Rian?" i asked

"Calling Zack to get a ride to his car" he said and i nodded

"Oh okay" i said

"Cheer up buddy, i hate seeing you so sad" he said

"I cant. Court date is set. Tuesday at 12" i said

"Damn that was quick, but then again the faster the better right. Get it over with?" he said

"I guess" i said

"Hungry?, i made macaroni and cheese" he said and i laughed, typical Jack

"Sure" i said

Later after we ate and i fed Caitlyn i laid on the couch. I was getting pretty tired for some reason, probably stress. I fell asleep and woke up the next morning still in the same spot and Jack was sitting on the floor playing with Caitlyn.

"Morning sleepyhead" he said looking over at me

"What time is it?" i asked

"Like 9" he said

"I slept for that long!?" i said

"Yeah, you were pretty messed up. Sleeps good for getting rid of sadness" he said

"True" i said

"Mhm, now you wanna see your baby. You barely saw her yesterday" he said

"Not now, i feel so sick" i said, i was hungover. My head was killing me

"Oh no. Daddys sick, give him a kiss" Jack said bringing Caitlyn over and put her face near mine and she giggled

"Awww i cant resist you, come here beautiful!" i said and Jack put her on my lap

"So your feeling better right?" he said

"Besides the hangover, yeah im good" i said

"Good because Zack and Rian wanna do somthing today" he said

"I'll do anything. I need to keep my mind off of my moron of a ex-girlfriend" i said and Caitlyn giggled

"You think its funny?, me to your moms a meany" he said to Caitlyn who just smiled and i laughed at them
