Well, Who's to Say You'll Have to Do it Alone?

-Fast forward to Tuesday-

Today was the trial for custody of Caitlyn, i was nervous. I hated that Brook most likely will get some custody. Later me, Jack and Caitlyn headed down to the courthouse. We got into the room and there was lots of people there including Brooks parents. I sat next to my lawyer and we got started.

"Okay so were here today on behalf of the custody of Caitlyn correct?" the judge said

"Yes" my lawyer and Brooks lawyer said

"Okay. So Miss Myers is asking for just weekends?, and Mr. Gaskarth doesnt agree?" he said

"Yes thats right" my lawyer said

"Care to explain Mr. Gaskarth?" the judge said

"Sure. You see, i had no idea that Caitlyn exsisted until my neighbor found her on my doorstep one night. Brook just left her there" i said

"Where were you the night your neighbor found Caitlyn?" the judge asked

"I was out with my friends, we were celebrating a birthday" i said

"Okay, now from what ive heard you dont live alone?" the judge asked

"Your honor, what does-" my lawyer started

"Denied, well Mr. Gaskarth?" the judge asked

"Yeah i dont live alone i live with my best friend, were close we decided to live together" i said

"Its not because of money issues?" the judge asked

"Not at all, we make the same money. Better money then Brook might i add" i said

"Right, your in a band. Tell me, what do you plan on doing with your daughter when your out of the state?" the judge asked, damn he knows my life doesnt he?

"Well, im not sure. Ive discussed it with my bandmates and we'd bring her on tour if needed" i said

"Right, now onto Brook. You left your daughter on his doorstep?" the judge asked

"Yes" Brook said

"Why?, what drove you to decide that leaving a 2 month old on a doorstep was a genuis idea?" the judge said, yes!, he told her!

"Well he wasnt home, i couldnt handle it and i panicked" she said

"Right, and you can afford a child part time?" he asked

"Yes i can. My job doesnt require me to leave either so i'd be able to handle her" Brook said

"Unfair!" i said

"Not unfair Alex!" she said

"Yes!, what happens when you decide that you cant even handle saturday and sunday?!. We both know you dont do well with kids" i said

"Enough you two!" the judge said

"Sorry" we said

"Your honor, i just think that shes totally unfit. Sure shes a good mother financially but mentally. No. Shes nuts, i mean who in their right mind just leaves a innocent child alone in the dark. She cant even call me to tell me about her i had to find out in a note!. Shes so childish, atleast im taking good care of her and not flaking out. Plus i have plenty of people that care about her as if she were their own. Who does Brook have, her psychotic mother and father. Everything in my gut is telling me my daughter should avoid those people" i said

"My parents are not crazy!" Brook yelled at me

"Yes they are, so stuck up its incredible" i said

"Enough, i think its time for a recess and after i will give my verdict" the judge said

"Yes your honor" my lawyer said looking at me

We all took a break and i went outside with Caitlyn and Jack. I was just so extremely pissed off at her, shes such a failure its incredible. After about five or ten minutes we were called back in to finish the hearing.

"Okay, Miss Myers, Mr. Gaskarth are you two cooled off?" the judge asked

"Yes" we said

"Okay. Well after considering all my information i have decided to give Miss Myers custody of her daughter on the weekends. Seeing as she has no history of mental or physical problems forbidding her from caring for her daughter" the judge said

"Unbelievable" i said and looked over at Brook who was hugging her parents

After the hearing was done we had to sign the papers for the custody, it was the hardest thing ever. After i signed it i ignored everyone and left with Jack and Caitlyn without saying anything. I had Jack drive since i would probably drive off the road in fury. Me and Jack had Rian and Zack come over to hangout and it definitely helped my mood. Later me and Rian went to the grocery store for some stuff, we turned into the cereal isle and ran into Brooks parents.

"Hello Alex" her mom said

"Ri, which did Jack say to get?" i asked holding up two boxes of cereal i was ignoring them

"Uhm...that one" he said pointing to one and i tossed it into my basket

"Oh come on Alex dont be a child" her mom said

"Im not, i just dont have anything to say to you" i said

"Alex you really would never be able to keep my daughter from Caitlyn, she'd wanna see her adventually in her life" she said and i scoffed

"Yes. But you see i plan on showing Caitlyn that little note Brook wrote me when shes old enough and i plan on telling her about all of this. Trust me my daughter will grow to see Brooks a soulless little-" i started but her dad cut me off

"Thats enough Alex, you dont have any right in doing that" he said

"Hah, yes i have plenty of right. Now if you'll excuse me we have stuff to get and then i have to go home back to my baby your daughter abandoned" i said flipping them off and we walked away

We finished shopping and left the store. I got into Rians car angrily and slammed my door shut, i was not a happy camper today. We left the parking lot and went straight home, when we walked inside Jack was standing infront of the tv doing somthing and i went over and leaned on him.

"Hey Alex" he said putting his arm around me

"Hi" i said

"Whats wrong buttercup?" he asked making me smile for the moment

"This whole day" i said shoving my face in his shirt

"I know" he said

"We saw Brooks parents at the store, i despise those people with all my heart" i said

"I know you do" he said

"They never liked me, never. I could tell they always thought i wasnt good enough for her because i didnt come from money or a high and mighty family like them. I could tell in the store her mom liked seeing me upset and i just wanted to punch her in her stupid ugly plastic surgery face!" i said

"You should of she deserves it" he said

"I know she really really does" i said

"Want some alcohol?" he asked

"Hell no. Im seriously cutting back, i know i said that before but i mean it this time" i said

"For her?" he asked pointing to Zack and Caitlyn

"Yes for my little girl" i said

"Alright. New idea to cheer you up, i found this picture in your room when i was changing Caitlyn. Thought you'd like to destroy it or something" he said handing me a framed picture of me and Brook

"Hell yeah!. I didnt know i had this but im glad i do!" i said putting the picture down my pants so i wouldnt have to carry it and i grabbed Jacks hand and a baseball bat and we went outside

"So whats the plan?" he asked

"Smash it duhhh" i said like it was obvious and i threw it down on the driveway and started bashing it really hard with the bat swearing at it once i was done it was in millions of pieces

"Wow, how'd that feel?" Jack laughed

"That felt good, extremely extremely good" i said out of breath and we both laughed
