Perfect to Me
Just Give Me A Reason
My day with the girls, Eleanor and Danielle, had just started when we decided we would like to grab a late lunch before shopping. We went to a small café in London and after we ordered our food we took a seat at a table and waited for the food to arrive.
“So Abby you and Harry, yeah?” Eleanor said as she sipped on her tea.
“What about us?” I asked confusion written on my face.
“You guys make it official yet, love?”
“Nope,” I casually said while I stirred some sugar into my coffee.
“Well why not?!” Danielle exclaimed.
“I don’t know. We’ve talked about it and we like what we are right now. A word isn’t tying us together and just a lot comes with being boyfriend and girlfriend. We like that we do things for one another because we want to and we don’t feel like we have to,” I explained to them and they nodded along.
“That’s really sweet,” Danielle said with a genuine smile on her face.
“Oh please! It’s sweet but come on! All the little fans on Twitter are already saying you two make the cutest couple, come on now love!” Eleanor exclaimed and I couldn’t help but laugh at her.
“Why do I feel like I miss out on a lot because I don’t have a Twitter?” I wondered aloud and Eleanor about spit her tea out.
“You don’t have a Twitter?! If that’s the case then you really are missing everything! That’s it, tonight we are making you one whether you like it or not!” She yelled and the people in the café stared at us rudely, she really is the female version of Louis. The waiter at the café brought us our food and we quickly dug in.
“So lovey, you and Harry going on a date tomorrow?” Danielle asked as she finished eating.
“Yeah, how’d you know?” I asked.
“Liam just sent me a text saying we were all meeting up at Embassy tomorrow after you and Harry go to dinner.”
“That news spread fast,” I nonchalantly said as I, too, finished eating.
“What are you wearing?” Danielle asked, making light conversation as Eleanor finished up.
“I’m not sure, all I know is I need to dress nice, that’s pretty much why we’re going to dinner in the first place, 'cause he wants to see me dressed up.”
“Well then, let’s go get you an outfit, yeah?” Eleanor said as she stood up from the table and we all followed after her. As we exited the shop and were walking along the street I felt my phone buzz, signaling I had a text.
From: Harry
I spot you. xx
My face scrunched up at the very vague text from Harry and when I lifted my head I peered around me and didn’t see the boy. I kept looking all around me and could not for the life of me find Harry and just when I was going to give up my phone started ringing, Harry was calling. I pressed answer and brought the phone to my ear.
“Can’t find me can you?” Harry said through the phone.
“No, where are you?” I asked. Just as I said it I felt someone tap me on my shoulder, I spun around and there stood the boy.
“Found me,” he said as he hung the phone up and pocketed it. He had on black ray bans, a grey shirt, black skinnys, his converse, and a grey beanie where his curls were pushed. I loved it when he wore a beanie with the curls put away.
“I’m not supposed to see you today Harry,” I warned him and his smile that was already on his face got bigger.
“What can I say? I don’t follow the rules,” he joked as he pulled me in for a hug. I wrapped my arms around him returning the hug.
“Why aren’t you with the boys?” I asked him once we pulled away from the hug.
“They weren’t up yet, and when I did wake them up they told me to go on a coffee run, so here I am,” Harry said while holding his arms out and pointing to himself. We stood there talking for about 5 minutes when a teenaged girl approached us, clearly she recognized Harry because she appeared to be nervous.
“Excuse me, Harry?” The girl said and Harry quickly looked down at her.
“Hello, love, how are you?” He asked the girl.
“I’m wonderful thank you. My name’s Emma and I was wondering if I could get a picture? I’m a huge fan,” Emma said as she shyly held up her camera.
“Well of course you may!” Harry told her as he took his sunglasses off and stuck them on the collar of his shirt.
“Would you like for me to take the picture?” I asked Emma and she shyly looked at me as well.
“Actually, I was wondering if you’d be in the photo too? I’m a big supporter of Harry and his mystery girl, I think you two are the cutest couple out of all the couples in One Direction,” Emma stated.
“Oh okay, but Harry and I aren—“ I tried to tell Emma that Harry and I weren’t a couple but Harry quickly cut me off.
“Emma, this is my girlfriend Abby,” Harry said motioning to me and pulled me into his side.
“Hello Abby,” she said and I smiled at her even though I was confused as to why Harry called me his girlfriend. “So would you be in the photo too? My friend is going to take the picture.”
“Yeah that’s fine!” I told her as she stood in front of us and I wrapped my arm around Harry’s waist and rested my other hand on Emma’s shoulder.
“Okay on the count of three,” her friend said as she pointed the camera at us and then did the countdown and took the picture.
“Thank you both very much,” Emma said as she looked at the photo. I peered at the photo too and noticed it was actually a really good photo.
“That’s a nice photo,” I mindlessly said to her and she nodded her head.
“Um Abby? Do you by chance have a Twitter account that way when I tag Harry’s name I can put your name as well,” Emma asked me while pulling her phone out I assume to take down my name.
“I actually don’t, but the girls are making me get one tonight, and I imagine either Danielle or Eleanor will post my name thing on their accounts so look out for it yeah?” I told her and she nodded her head.
“It was nice meeting you both. Harry your girlfriend is really lovely, it’s a shame a lot of Directioner’s aren’t fond of her. I think you’re wonderful,” Emma said as she walked off with her friend.
“Harry,” I sternly said once Emma and her friend were out of range.
“What?” He said with an amused grin on his face.
“You called me your girlfriend,” I pointed out.
“Did I? I’m sorry love, silly mistake,” he said and I could tell he was lying. “Are you really getting a Twitter tonight?”
“Yeah, Eleanor said we would make me one so I’m sure she was being serious,” I told him.
“Well I better get a shout out, okay?” He said as he took my hand in his.
“I’ll think about it,” I joked with him and he faked being hurt.
“If you give me a shout out I’ll give you a shout out,” he said and I thought it over and nodded my head. He pulled his phone out of his pocket. “In fact, let’s take a picture so my shout out can be better than yours!” He pulled up his camera on his iPhone, then stepped behind me where he placed his head right next to mine and on my shoulder, he held the camera out in front of us. “Say penis!” He said, I couldn’t help but laugh, and he took the photo. After he took the photo he pulled it up on the phone and let me look at it.
“Oh wow, that’s actually a really good photo!” I said. The photo had a lot of sunlight shining through but you could clearly make out our faces in it, and we both had mile long smiles that matched. I loved his smile, his dimples were apparent and I loved how his smile reached his eyes. It was a true smile.
“It really is a nice photo, I did good!” He exclaimed and I patted him on his back.
“Abby! Come on! We haven’t got all day! Tell loverboy to get lost!” Eleanor yelled from down the street and I waved her off.
“You heard the woman, I’ve gotta go,” I told Harry and he started to pout.
“Do you have to?” He asked and I nodded my head. “Fine, I guess I’ll let you be on your way. Let me know when you make your Twitter okay?” Harry said as he kissed my forehead.
“Bye Harry.”
“Bye Abs,” Harry said as he turned around to go into Starbucks.
The next couple of hours were spent with me trying on clothes in dressing rooms of random shops in London looking for an outfit to wear to Harry and I’s date. We were currently in a store walking around looking for more dresses when I walked by the jewelry stands and saw a necklace that caught my eye. It was a charm almost 2 inches big of a paper airplane, and for some reason it made me think of Harry. He is always traveling because of his job but manages to go home and see his family, just like me. I may call London my home now but I always manage to go visit my real home…which is wherever my grandparents are. As I continued to look at the necklace a worker at the shop came up to me.
“Like what you see?” The elderly woman asked.
“Yeah,” I told her as I gave her a small smile. “How much is it?” I asked her.
“It’s 60 pounds, dear,” the woman told me and I sucked in my breath. That’s over one hundred American dollars. “Would you like to buy it?” She then asked me.
I took a minute to ponder whether or not I should, I mean Harry and I aren’t even established yet and I think it’d be a bit much if I bought him this as a friendly gift, even if friends buy each other gifts.
“Tell you what, I’ll think about it while I continue to look around,” I told the woman and walked off to where Danielle and Eleanor were looking through dresses.
“There you are love! Danielle and I found the perfect dress for you!” Eleanor said as she held up a strapless, black, lacy dress that was fitted at the top and flowing on the bottom. “Go try it on dear,” Eleanor said as she shoved me towards a changing room. I quickly changed into it and stepped out of the curtain, Eleanor and Danielle’s mouths dropped.
“You look hot!” Danielle exclaimed as she stepped toward me and spun me around so I was facing a full length mirror. She was right, I looked really good!
“I love it,” Eleanor said as she stood beside me.
“I do too, it’s so simple but so nice,” I told them and they nodded their heads in agreement.
“So it’s set then? You’re getting it?” Danielle asked and I nodded my head. I walked back into the changing room and slipped out of the dress and put my clothes back on. When I walked out of the dressing room holding the dress the plane necklace was still on my mind.
“Girls can I ask you a question?”
“Sure love what is it?” Eleanor asked and Danielle nodded her head.
“Would it be weird if I bought Harry a necklace that was 60 pounds?”
“No I don’t see why not? I mean it’s a friendly gesture and friends buy friends gifts,” Danielle told me and Eleanor agreed with her.
“Why? do you want to get him something?” Eleanor asked as we looked at shoes to go with my dress.
“Yeah, it’s just a simple necklace that makes me think of him,” I mindlessly said.
“Honey, you are in deep,” Eleanor said from beside me.
“What are you talking about?” I asked her, confusion in my voice.
“You so like him.”
“So?” I said.
“Make it official already!” Eleanor exclaimed and I winced at how loud she was.
“I don’t know. I’m leaving it up to Harry. Wanna hear something odd?” I said to her and she waved for me to go on. “Today my dad called and I hadn’t spoken to him in three years and Harry answered the phone and my dad started judging Harry and I accidently called him my boyfriend…twice,” I told her and she whipped her head around to face me with shock written on her face.
“You didn’t?!” She said and I nodded my head. “You so want him to be your boyfriend!”
“But that’s not it, when I was talking to him after lunch today a fan asked for a picture with us and he called me his girlfriend…on purpose,” I told her and she slapped her hand over her mouth.
“Oh my god! You two just need to be official already!” She squealed.
“I don’t know. Look I’ve got some shoes at home I want to wear with this dress so I’m going to go check out okay?” I told her and she nodded her head. I walked over to the register where the elderly lady was standing and she smiled at me.
“Will this be all for you dear? Or have you decided you wanted the necklace?” She asked as she scanned the dress’s price tag.
“You know what, I’ll take the necklace,” I told her with a smile on my face. It’s just a friendly gesture. The elderly woman walked off and returned with the necklace.
“You got lucky dear, it’s the last one,” she said as she scanned the tag on it. She read off my total and I handed her my debit card. She handed me my bag and I walked outside where the girls were waiting on me.
“There you are,” Danielle said and looped her arm with mine and Eleanor looped her arm with my other free one.
“You guys just wanna head back to my place and order pizza?” I said as we started walking in the right direction.
“Sounds good and while we wait for the pizza we’ll make you a Twitter!”
Once we got back to my place I made an order for a pizza and I poured three glasses of wine and went to join Eleanor and Danielle in the living room. They sat in front of my laptop and gently took a wine glass from me. I sat beside them and saw they had Twitter pulled up. I took a sip of wine then placed my glass on the coffee table, and Eleanor placed my laptop in my lap.
“Okay, fill in your email address, and do your password,” Eleanor instructed and I tapped on the appropriate keys, successfully filling in my email and password for the account.
“Now what do you want your username to be love?”
“I suggest something simple like your first and last name,” Danielle said.
“Hmm, I’ll do AbbyEGrimes?” I said and they both nodded their heads as I typed in the name and saw it was available. We finished filling in the boxes and successfully created my account.
“Okay, now you need a profile picture, do you have one on your computer?” Danielle said and I nodded my head.
“I have a Facebook so I’m not a complete Grandma guys,” I joked with them and pulled up my photos folder. We were looking through them when Danielle pulled my hands away from the mouse pad.
“Do that one!” She exclaimed as she pointed to a photo of me leaning against a wall of graffiti doing a sort of ‘hipster’ pose. “I like it!”
“Me too, it’s all about your profile picture, the picture says everything about you,” Eleanor stated and I rolled my eyes at how serious she was acting. I selected the photo and hit the save button.
“Now what?” I said to them and they continued to explain everything I needed to know about Twitter, and then helped me follow them and the boys. After they finished explaining I pulled my phone out to text Harry.
To: Harry
Made a Twitter superstar, about to shout you out!
I sent the message then clicked on the button to compose a new tweet. I typed it up and pressed tweet.
@AbbyEGrimes: New to the twitterworld, promised @Harry_Styles I’d give him a shout out, HI HAIR!
“There,” I said and the girls patted me on my back. They both pulled their phones to give me a shout out as well to help me get followers. Once they set their phones down I clicked on my mentions and saw their tweets.
@EleanorJCalder: My lovey made a Twitter! Follow her @AbbyEGrimes!!
@DaniellePeazer: Welcome to twitter @AbbyEGrimes! Directioner’s follow her!
I hit favorite and then went to refresh my mentions.
“Oh my gosh!” I said when I saw how many followers I quickly gained. Seven of which stood out to me as the girls and the boys.
“Look! Harry tweeted you,” Eleanor pointed out and it appeared that he did in fact tweet me.
@Harry_Styles: It appears my best friend made a Twitter about time @AbbyEGrimes isn’t she a granny? pic.twitter.com/jj89O3gh (fake link)
I smiled and clicked on the link and the photo we took this afternoon popped up.
“Why can’t Louis and I be that cute?” Eleanor whined as she dramatically placed her head on my shoulder.
“You two are cute, you just take terrible photos El,” Danielle said and Eleanor slapped her arm.
I was just sitting on Twitter, sipping my wine, and looking for other people to follow when I got a text from Harry saying to check my DM’s. I clicked on the little inbox and saw I had one from him.
@Harry_Styles: Forgot to tell you that you looked lovely today, xx
I smiled and typed a response.
@AbbyEGrimes: Thanks. I liked your hair today, do it more often (: Now go have fun with the boys
After a few short minutes the pizza arrived and I paid the man, filled up our wine glasses and settled down to watch The Notebook. Once the movie ended the girls and I decided to change into our pajamas, mine consisted of a pair of shorts and one of Harry’s t-shirts he left here this week. We settled back on the couch and began watching Bridesmaids, deciding we wanted to cry from laughing this time instead of cry from how cute the movie was. We were halfway through the movie and already had tears streaming down our face from laughing, I’m sure most of it due to the wine we had consumed, when I heard a loud knock on my door. I scrunched my face up in confusion and slowly rose from the couch.
“Are you expecting someone deary?” Danielle asked.
“Not that I’m aware of,” I said to her as I went to open the door. Low and behold there stood Harry with a childish grin on his face.
“Hello!” He yelled and the smell of alcohol hit my face, he was drunk.
“Harry, what do you want?” I patiently asked.
“I came to sleep over, duh?” He said as he took a step forward and placed his hands on my waist.
“You weren’t supposed to sleep over tonight remember? It’s a girls night,” I told him, I feel like I’m talking to a child.
“Hello Eleanor, hello Danielle!!” Harry yelled and I slapped my hand over his mouth, he was going to wake up everyone on my floor. I yanked him inside and shut my door.
“Harry how much did you drink tonight?” I asked him as I led him to the kitchen.
“I don’t remember, hey! You all are watching Bridesmaids, I love that movie!” Harry squealed as he ran to the living room—I didn’t think he could make such a high pitched noise. I pressed my hand to my forehead as I poured him a glass of water, I walked into the living room where I saw Harry lounged in front of the TV on his stomach with his legs propped up like a teenaged girl drooling over her celeb crush.
“Harry, get up and drink this water,” I told him and he pouted as he stood up and came over to me. “I’m sorry girls, he knows he isn’t supposed to be here right now,” I groaned and Eleanor and Danielle waved it off.
“I didn’t think you were serious babe,” Harry said as he finished chugging the water. “I have to use the toilet,” Harry told me as he walked past me and made his way to the bathroom in my room. I went to put the cup in the sink and when I heard the toilet flush I went into my bedroom right as Harry walked out of the bathroom.
“Bed, now,” I sternly said and Harry sauntered over to the bed and plopped down.
“I think it’s extremely sexy when you’re bossy,” Harry spoke as I took his shoes off, and assisted him in taking his shirt and pants off. Once I successfully got him down to his underwear I pulled the covers back and helped him get into the bed and then pulled the covers back over him.
“Go to sleep Harry,” I told him and he reached out and pulled me down on top of him.
“No kiss good—are you not wearing a bra?” He distractedly said as a smug grin appeared on his face as he tried sneaking his hands underneath my shirt, his hands were freezing when they touched my warm skin and I jumped and his grin only got bigger. “Is it a bit nippy in here?” Harry said as he busted into a fit of laughter. I shook my head at how childish he was being and stood up.
“Go to bed,” I told him once I stood on both my feet.
“Give me a kiss goodnight?” Harry pouted, I rolled my eyes and bent down to peck him on his lips. “Night love.”
“Night Harry,” I said as I walked out of my room and shut the light off on my way out. I sat back down on the couch next to Eleanor and she patted my leg.
“Isn’t he a handful when he’s drunk?” She said and I nodded my head.
“Sorry he crashed the girls’ night, I was gonna fit all three of us on my bed but Mr. Drunk ruined those plans.”
“No worries love. Both of us have been in your shoes with our boys, Eleanor and I can take the guest room,” Danielle said from her spot next to Eleanor. We resumed the movie and watched the entirety of it, once it ended we all three let out yawns and decided it was a good time to head to bed. I hugged them both goodnight and walked into my room, I placed my glasses on my nightstand, plugged my phone into its charger and then climbed underneath the blankets. Just as I got situated Harry flipped over and rested his head on my chest and held me tight. I let a sigh out as I began playing with his hair and quickly drifted off to sleep.
“So Abby you and Harry, yeah?” Eleanor said as she sipped on her tea.
“What about us?” I asked confusion written on my face.
“You guys make it official yet, love?”
“Nope,” I casually said while I stirred some sugar into my coffee.
