Fight the Tears With Pretty Smiles and Lies
Happiness
I went upstairs about an hour later, looking for Mikey. I found him in the living room, trying to clean up some of the mess from the party.
"Hey Mikey," I said. He turned around and looked at me, before smiling.
"Hey Allie," he said. "Are you feeling better?"
"A lot better," I said. I felt my smile get bigger.
"Why are you so happy?" he asked.
"I think me and Gerard are together now," I said, smiling and waiting for Mikey's reaction. He looked a bit shocked.
"Really?" he asked. I nodded my head.
"Well, we haven't really talked about it," I said. "But it's looking pretty good."
Mikey nodded.
"As long as you're happy, I'm happy," he said.
"Good," I said. "Because I am extremely happy."
"Just promise me you'll be careful," Mikey said. "And let me know if anything bad happens."
"Don't worry Mikey," I said. "Nothing bad is gonna happen."
I heard the basement door open and close and I turned around and saw Gerard come into the living room.
"What are you two doing?" Gerard asked.
"Nothing," I said, smiling at him. "Just talking."
Gerard smiled back.
"Do you want a ride home, Allie?" he asked. "Or do you want to stay for a little while more?"
"I think I'll stay for a while," I said. "I just have to call my mom. I don't want her to get too worried about me."
I hadn't called my mom last night to tell her I wouldn't be home. But I knew my mom wouldn't care. She wasn't very strict anyways.
After calling my mom, I started to go back to the living room to find Gerard a few feet behind me, just staring at me and smiling.
"You're very cute, you know that?" Gerard said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said smiling. I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I felt so happy I couldn't fully express it in words.
