Prologue.
My name is Briony Alexander. I am twenty years old and I tried to kill myself.
‘How could a girl who has everything try to kill herself?’ my parents cried.
They didn’t understand, couldn’t understand. No one will ever be able to understand. So, they shoved me into a mental hospital to try and sort out my ‘attention seeking issues’ but I don’t really care all that much. Maybe in here I’ll get the help I need, maybe in here they can cure me. I can’t live like this any more. Every day the compulsion to eat human flesh grows stronger and I don’t know how much longer I can hold out. I don’t understand what’s happening to me. I’m turning into a monster.
