Black Damask

Chapter 2

My friends and myself were hanging out outside of the school just before school started when I saw a girl who looked like Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family got out of her car and walked towards the office,
“Hey Ghost, check out the new chick. She’s looks like that kid from The Addams Family, I reckon you’ll like her” my friend Josh said
“Hmm, I don’t know” I said just as the bell went off to say that we had to get to class, I must talk to her I thought to myself as I walked to homeroom.
I hadn’t seen the Wednesday Addams look-a-like around since this morning,
“Hey Dev, have you seen Wednesday around?” Ryan asked
“No I haven’t” I said taking a sip of my drink
“Hey isn’t that her over there?” Chris asked nodding to her direction, I got up and headed to her direction.
“You’re new here,” I said, she seemed surprised when she heard me so she must not have heard me approach her, she nodded slightly.
“I haven’t been that impressed by the school so far, but if Edward Scissorhands goes here, then it must be at least somewhat decent,” she said, looking up.

“I’ll take that as a compliment coming from Wednesday Addams.” The look on her face gave me the impression that she was impressed by the fact that I knew who the Addams Family were,
“I’m Devin. And you are better known as…?” I said introducing myself to her

“Anna,” she answered.
“I just moved here from Un-Fabulous Las Vegas.” I chuckled slightly at what she had said,
“That city is all about bright neon colors; they don’t go for anything dark like this.” We both looked up as the bell rang ending lunch.
“Any chance you could tell my how to get to Mrs. Kemont’s class?” Anna asked, looking at her schedule.

“I’m going in that direction; I’ll walk you,” I offered. “Mind if you see your schedule?” she handed it to me to look over as we walked.
“We all have the same first and last class together.” I said handing her schedule back to her,

“‘we?’” she asked

“Sorry,” I replied with another chuckle. “My friends are in those classes too. You’ll like them.” Her skepticism was pretty obvious. “If you get along with me, you’ll fit right in.”

“That would definitely be a change,” she said rolling her eyes.
“Thanks for walking me, at least I won’t be late for one class today,” she said, spotting the door.

“No problem at all. You’re next class is right up those stairs, second door on the left. Then I’ll see you back at the other end of this hall,” I said pointing the directions out to her.

It was finally last class and I was already sitting in my seat praying that Anna wouldn’t be late, Mrs.Santos could be such a bitch sometimes and I didn’t want that to happen today, I saw Anna enter and hand her schedule to Mrs. Santos.
“Why don’t you introduce yourself to the rest of the class?” she suggested cheerily.

“I’d rather not,” I heard her say, not the best idea Anna I thought to myself as Mrs. Santos’ smile disappeared.

“Insubordination will not be tolerated in this class,” Mrs. Santos snapped,
“Take an empty seat unless you would like to be sent to the Principal’s Office on your very first day.”

“I spent enough time in the office this morning, and I’m sure this won’t be the last time I’m offered a trip down there.” She said ignoring everyone’s laughter as she made her way to the only empty seat in the room, right behind me at the back of the classroom.

“You have no idea what you did,” I said spinning around in my seat when the bell rung, she shrugged her shoulders, gathering her things.

“Interesting,” I said thoughtfully as we followed the other five guys that looked like me out into the hall. “Guys, this is Anna,” I said introducing her to my friends as we stopped on the sidewalk by the parking lot.
“Anna, this is Chris, Ricky, Balz, Angelo, and Ryan” we talked for a few minutes before Chris announced they had to go. “We have band practice right now, but do you want to meet later?” I asked

“I would, but the moving truck is arriving today and I have to set up the house,” she said.
“Maybe we can get together tomorrow or something.” She suggested

I nodded and scribbled my number on a scrap of paper handing it to her before joining my friends. As I was walking with my friends I couldn’t get Anna off my mind, she had something about her that just could not leave me alone.
