The Cheap Bouquet

Vic's POV

It was the next day, and Jaime's first day of therapy. He wasn't happy about it, but I finally got him to go. We were in Jaime's hospital room, the therapist sitting in a stool, talking to Jaime.

"So Jaime, you're having hallucinations?" She asked. The therapist was actually really pretty, she had un-natural red hair, with bangs that completely covered her forehead, and big black glasses.

"They're not hallucinations." He muttered, staring at the ground. He looked up at her, fear filling his eyes. "They're hideous monsters, that'll eat you alive."

"Oh." She said, her face expression showing she was taken aback. She shook it off and pulled out some paper and a pencil. "Can you draw for me what the monsters look like?"

He snatched the paper out of her hand and started drawing. We both watched him intently. I finally turned back to the therapist.

"I uh, I'm sorry, I forgot your name." I said, my cheeks turning a rosy red.

She smiled. "My name's Jenna, Jenna Mcdougall. But you can call me Jenna."

"My name's Vic Fuentes, but you can call me Vic." I said, holding out my hand. She took it and shook it gradually.

The room grew silent again, the only noise was Jaime's pencil scratching against the paper. After 5 more minutes, Jaime finally exclaimed, "Done!"

Jenna took the papers out of his hand and started looking at them. She showed them to me. The first one had a body of a giant, and two heads emerging from it. One of the head's was the head a of a child, the other the head of a grown man. She flipped to the next one. It had a large mouth with sharp teeth, cat-like ears, and a huge hole where its stomach should be. She flipped to the next one, the one that frightened me the most. It looked a lot like Satan, large horns emerging from the head. The body was large too, but the thing that scared me the most was the rope tied around the monster's neck. I couldn't help but shiver when I saw it, and Jenna flipped to the next picture. The next one was a fairy, she had thin wings, and a small body. The face however, was hideous. Her eyes had flames in them, and she had wicked smile, showing fangs in her mouth. We flipped to the next-and last- one. It was a strange creature, it looked like 2 people connected by the back.

"This one kind of looks like you, Vic." Jenna muttered.

I could see why she thought that, since one side of the monster had my long, wavy hair, my large brown eyes, and my awkward teeth. It looked like I was screaming. I looked at the other body that was connected to mine. It looked... it almost looked like Kellin.

"Jaime, what... what are these?" Jenna asked, a horrified look on her face.

"Those are the monsters." Jaime calmly explained. I couldn't help but stare at the last one, the one that looked somewhat like me. I held it up and showed it to Jaime.

"Jaime, when does this one come up?" I asked.

Jaime looked around the room, and then looked back at me. "I-I don't know. But it's the worst one. It taunts me, and traumatizes me." His eyes filled with tears. "I just want them to go away!"

I held his hand, brushing the top of it with my thumb. "Don't worry babe, they'll go away soon."

Jenna took the drawing and stared at it for a long time. Finally, she spoke up. "Jaime, has Vic ever hurt you in any way?" I was shocked at the question, but didn't say anything.

"He... he cheated on me once, and it really got to me." Jaime answered quietly. "But... I'm over it! I swear!" His eyes widened, and he turned around and screamed. "It's here!" He screamed, tears filling his eyes.

"Which monster is here Jaime?" Jenna asked. Jaime didn't say anything, but pointed at the one that had the 2 bodies connected, the one that kind of looked like me. I started getting up, but Jenna stopped me.

"Vic! Help!" Jaime screamed. "He's gonna get me!"

"You need to face your fears, Jaime." Jenna said. "It can't hurt you, it's just a figment of your imagination. Turn around, look the monster in the eye, and tell it you're not scared."

"But I'm horrified!" Jaime exclaimed. He looked at me, panic and tears filling his eyes. I started standing up, but Jenna pushed me back down.

"He needs to face his fears." Jenna said. "Jaime, do what I said. It can't hurt you."

Jaime took a deep breath, and stood up. He closed his eyes, and turned toward the hallucination. "You cannot hurt me, you're just a figment of my imagination." He opened his eyes, balled his hands into fists. "I am not scared of you."

Jaime's POV

"I am not scared of you." The monster started slowly dying, and disappeared, leaving a dark black gas in the room. I smiled and turned to Jenna. "It's gone!"

Jenna smiled. "The monsters are figments of your imaginations Jaime, also known as hallucinations. You're taking all of your problems, and... and making them into monsters. Have you ever bottled up your feelings Jaime?"

I nodded. "Yeah, before the car-crash I bottled it all up, because the only goal I had was to make Vic happier."

"That's really unhealthy, Jaime. Those bottled up feelings are the monsters that are coming for you, you need to let those feelings out." A little timer went off, and Jenna stood up. "I need to go help another patient Jaime, but we'll work next week, okay?" She got up, and left.

Vic turned to me. "My happiness isn't important, okay Jaime? The only thing I want right now is for you to be happy, and to feel better." Tears started filling his eyes. "I- I need to go." And before I could stop him, he was gone.

Vic's POV

I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. I pulled out my blade, and slid the sleeve up on my hoodie. I dug the blade into my wrist, and watched as the blood pour out. This was all of my fault, if Jaime wasn't so focused on me, he wouldn't be having these problems.

I sighed, I had gone back to cutting a day or two ago, and had scars all over my wrists now. I slipped the blade back into my pocket, and dropped my face into my hand.

Everything was my fault.
