Tis the Season

Zayn & Eve

The large woman on the television screen was bouncing up and down as she spoke. The grin on her face made it appear as though she was excited for the 14 inches of snow about to hit London.

Eve sat on the sofa with a large grin on her face. It was halfway through December and they were just beginning to see snow. She couldn’t be more excited. Zayn secretly prayed that the Doppler Radar was wrong. Snow meant he wouldn’t be able to drive, and he absolutely dreaded the 15 minute walk to the restaurant for work.

“I hope you know, the second snow hits the ground, I’m going to build a snowman, with or without you.” Eve laughed as she spoke, looking Zayn up and down.

He turned to her, his face turned in a smirk. “I’ll be racing you down the stairs.”

Her face twisted slightly, challenging him with her glare. She pursed her lips. Zayn couldn’t help but laugh at her.

Rolling her eyes, she pushed back into the sofa. “I’ll have you know, I plan on winning this race.”

“Bet on it.”

Eve turned back to him and gave him another small glare. With her arms folded across her chest, she smirked at him. “Watch yourself, Malik. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.”

Zayn’s eyes moved to the window, catching sight of the first snowflake as it fell. His eyes widened at the sight and Eve took notice. She quickly turned around to face the window, and when she turned back to Zayn, he was already heading towards the door.

His feet were racing down the stairs. He was determined to beat Eve, less for the bet and more for his own selfish pride. From the sound of her steps, she wasn’t anywhere near close to catching up with him.

After landing at the foyer at the end of the stairs, Zayn waited for Eve with his arms folded across his chest. She reached the last step only a few seconds after he did.

Her lips were puffed out in a pout, one Zayn couldn’t resist. He hated that she had that effect on him.

Matching her pout with one of his own, Zayn held his arms out to her. She kept her head to the floor, as she stepped slowly towards him.

When she was just inches from him, she made a quick right, and bolted out the front door. Zayn’s jaw dropped immediately, when he realized that she had pulled one over on him.

Eve was standing outside the building, jumping in the air and holding out her hands in her very own touchdown dance. Zayn rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t help but pair the look with a soft grin.

“I won,” Eve said, as she stopped jumping and threw her hands on her hips. “What do I get?”

“My undying love,” Zayn said, shooting her a smirk.

Taking a step closer to him, she glared. “I already have that.” She grabbed his cheek, pinching it tightly. “I want something useful.”

Rolling his eyes again, Zayn reached down to the ground. The snow had only just begun falling, but it was sticking to the ground. There was already enough for him to form a golf sized ball in his hand.

Eve eyed the rolled up snow. She knew exactly what he was going to do, but she was powerless to stop him. In one quick motion, he had lifted out the collar of her shirt and placed the cold snow down her back.

“Zayn!” Eve shouted at him, while attempting to remove the snow from her shirt. He just stood in front of her, buckling over in laughter.

When his laughter subsided, Zayn looked up at Eve’s glaring form. Her arms were folded across her chest and her face was tightened. Their eyes met and Eve’s lips formed a small smile. Eve reached quickly to the ground and formed a small ball of her own.

Her face looked so bright that Zayn’s body suddenly froze. His eyes were stuck on hers, and even though he had enough time to move away and avoid her snowball, his feet wouldn’t move.

Eve approached him slowly, shaking her hips as she walked. She tossed the ball between each of her hands. When she was just a few inches away from Zayn, she lifted up the bottom of his shirt and placed the snow against his chest.

Eve’s wild laughter made him laugh as well. His stomach was cold with the snow, but he could only feel her warm hand placed against it. He lifted his hand, until it was placed on top of hers, and wrapped his fingers around it. Pulling her hand from his chest, he used it to bring her closer to him.

Her body was pressed against his, and when her smiling eyes met his wide ones, he leaned his head towards her. His hand moved to her hair, which was littered with snow, and he ran his fingers through it.

His lips were just inches from hers, and he could feel the warmth of her breath rolling off of them. The sound of her soft giggle was all it took to give Zayn the confidence to pull her lips towards his. The kiss was gentle at first, just the way sweet kisses on the lawn should be, but then Eve’s tongue grazed Zayn’s bottom lip and all tenderness was thrown to the curb.

Zayn dropped her hand and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her even closer to him than she already was. Her hands wrapped themselves in his hair, tugging at the ends as she nibbled his lip.

Zayn’s breath caught in his throat, as his mind went blank with all thoughts other than those of Eve. He forced himself to slow the kiss, until it was only his lips placed against hers. The two pulled away slowly, both of them with smiles on their faces.

When he pulled away, Eve eyed him. “You wanna go upstairs?”

Zayn nodded. He hadn’t intended for the kiss to lead them to his bed. In fact, he had intended for it to be much more than a kiss. For him, it wasn’t a ploy to get her clothes off, but for her, it was nothing more than that. For her, all Zayn’s kisses would ever be was a lead-up to something more, and it killed him.
