Don't Make This Easy

Chapter Four

"And out of my mi-" She paused herself, and cleared her throat looking at Alex. "I can't hit that note, it's a little to high for me.." She said a bit embarrassed. She looked out at where the fans would be, there sat Paul, Ryan, Nick, Jack and Matt.

Groans came from their lips as Paul and Nick threw their heads back in frustration. They had been at it for two hours, every time it came to that one note she would pause. "Jasey come on, you've hit higher notes. Why are you holding back?" Ryan asked her from the stands.

She shrugged, "I- i don't know really... It's just I don't want to embarrass them if i don't hit it correctly... I don't want to disappoint.."

Alex looked at her from the stool he sat in, in the middle of the stage. She was worried she wouldn't impress. He smiled "Jasey look everyone has their own version of it. So just do what you would do."

She shook her head, "No, the fans will be expecting me to hit it high. Like Cassadee and Julia, so i have to hit it high."

Alex tried to argue with her explanation but was interrupted by Jack running to where Jasey stood. "Look Jasey Rae, You know as well as we do that you can hit that note. But you have to at least try. You're not going to disappoint anyone." He said smiling as he held her face in his hands.

Jasey smiled "How do you manage to make me feel so confident?" Alex couldn't help but feel the jealousy over come him, he wanted to be the one to make her feel confident. "Alright Alex, let's try this one more time!" He was broken from his envy as she spoke. He quickly smiled and nodded, as he leaned forward into the microphone.

She grabbed her microphone, that was already set up at the acoustic basement. She smiled at the crowd of fans that had gathered, Jack and Alex stood at the back making sure they were out of sight. "You know i have to be honest, I love the acoustic basement. I feel like i'm really connected with all of you." The crowd cheered, "Well this is Haunted."
'You and I walk a fragile line
I have known it all this time
But I never thought I'd live to see it break

It's getting dark
And it's all too quiet
And I can't trust anything now
And it's coming over you
Like it's all a big mistake

Oh holding my breath
Won't lose you again
Something's made your
Eyes go cold

Come on, come on
Don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong
You're all I wanted

Come on, come on
Don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back
Now I'm haunted

Stood there and watched you walk away
From everything we had
But I still mean every word I said
To you

He will try to take away my pain
And he just might make me smile
But the whole time I'm wishing he was you
Instead

Oh oh holding my breath
Won't see you again

Something keeps me
Holding onto nothing

Come on, come on
Don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong
You're all I wanted

Come on, come on
Don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back
Now I'm haunted'

She finished and turned to look at the guys smiling. "Woo! Good job guys!" The crowd clapped and she couldn't help but keep the smile on her face. "This next song is about my on and off again boyfriend... It's called Happy Ending."

"SALT LAKE CITY! How are all you tonight?!" He yelled into the microphone. They brought out a stool for him to sit on, and he adjusted his mic as his acoustic guitar hung on the right side of him. He picked it up gently, and placed it on his lap. The crowd was still cheering, Jasey Rae watched from the left side of the stage. "This one is called Remembering Sunday." And he began to play.

He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days

She remembered what he had stopped her for after their set at the acoustic basement. How he gently grabbed her by the arm asking her if she was okay.

Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs

He was actually concerned for her, she put so much emotion into her last song. She smiled at him and nodded, saying that she was fine it was just a boy.

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

But he won't take that for an answer, he wanted to know more of the story. So she continued with her story about Jason. She didn't understand why she was so open to Alex, for some reason she trusted him.

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

She talked about how they were together for four years before she got famous. How he was there for her when her father passed, how he was the only one she trusted. Until she found out he was cheating on her when she would go to work. But she still stayed with him, she put up with everything he did. She didn't understand why it was so hard to let go of him.

Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut

When she found out she was going to be in Warped Tour, she knew his guilt would get to him and not trust her. So he broke up with her, from there she went on to tell Alex how she doesn't believe in love anymore. How love is some fairy tale that society makes us believe. Alex knew she didn't mean it, she was just to hurt with the past. He was determined to change her mind, he was going to be the one to fix her damaged heart.

Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

Alex hugged the girl that infested his mind, she accepted it. Once she pulled away she only held a smile, she laughed as to say she was okay and thank you for the hug. Jasey Rae said she had to go warm up, and he watched her walk away.

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

He needed to talk to Jack, he didn't want to make a move towards her until he found out Jack's emotions towards the girl. He quickly found him talking to Rian, he pulled him aside and began to spill his feelings that were held for the small beauty. Jack smiled as he heard his bestfriend talk about her, he never saw his friend so worked up about a girl after Lisa. Jack laughed as Alex said he wouldn't get between Jasey and him if Jack had feelings for the girl.

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense

Jasey made her way towards where her mic stood, you couldn't miss her microphone. She picked it up as she heard the crowd cheer for her. Alex looked at her as he continued to sing.

Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be

She moved closer to him raising her microphone towards her lips, she was ready.

I'm not coming back
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak
But you'd expect that from me

She gentle placed her right hand on Alex's left cheek as she sang. She was looking into his eyes as she sang and he continued to play.

I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just
Washing you out of my hair

She removed her hand from his face and rose it toward the sky.

and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

She smiled as she sang the last part with Alex.

Well I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home

The crowed cheered she was proud of herself, they were proud of her, and Alex was proud of her. And that is how the story of Jasey Rae and Alex Gaskarth began..
