We're Only Uphill From Now

“Mike…I’m so f**king nervous!!!”
I paced around the room while webcaming with Mike.

“Vic. Calm down. You’ve been planning this for a month now. I’ll go over the checklist with you, okay?”
I ran my hands through my hair and nodded.

“Alright, candles?”
“Check.”
“Romantic dinner reservation?”
“Check”
“Roses hidden in the car?”
“Check.”
“And the ‘special life changer’?”
“C-check…”

“Okay. Your hair already seems to be flat-ironed to death. Teeth?”
“Brushed.”
“Cologne?”
“Already on.”
“Okay. You might want to fix your tie a little.”

I did so really quickly and looked at the clock.

“S**t! It’s almost 8:00! Got to go, Mike!”
He waved at me and wished me luck before I signed out of Skype and ran downstairs.

There he was. My beautiful angel with his black skinny jeans and his purple buttoned-up checkered shirt.

“Vic, what’s going on? Andy dragged me to his house after work and made me dress all dressy and junk.”
He had a small pout on his lips as he fixed his hair a little.
I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

“You’ll see~!”
---------

“Okay. What’s going on? What did you do wrong?”
Kellin joked as he slightly nudged me in the arm. We were lying on the hood of the car, under the moonlit sky, watching the waves crash onto the shore.
“Nothing illegal, my dear.” I smirked and kissed him on the lips. He pulled me closer to him and deepened the kiss.
Sadly, I had to pull away before things got too heated.

“Close your eyes. I have to get something real quick.”
He pouted, but did so.
I got up and pulled out the bouquet of roses from the trunk, then I stood in front of him.

“You can open your eyes now…”
He sat up and opened them.

“Awww. Vic, this is amazing…”
He took the bouquet with a huge smile on his face.
I bit down on my lip, suddenly becoming nervous.

“Kellin…we’ve been together for a long time now. We’ve been through so much, and we pushed through it and we’re still together. I love you so much, and I’m certain that I want to spend the rest of my life with you…I…just look inside the bouquet…”

He gasped as he pulled out the golden engagement band.

I held one of his hands in mine and looked him straight in the eye.

“Kellin Quinn, will you marry me?”
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he tackled me to the ground in the process of hugging me.

“Yes, Victor Vincent Fuentes! Of course I’ll marry you!”
My heart could have leapt out of my chest at any moment. But at that certain moment…

I had the biggest smile on my face than I’ve ever had in my life.

Kellin Quinn, my love, my whole world of six years, is mine.
Forever and always.
