Chapter 11
When I come down stairs, Sorrin's waiting for me, looking gorgeous in a white tux. He takes me to the backyard, where the entire popular school body is waiting. The stars wink at me, and everyone can barely recognize me, now that I'm not in my typical jeans and t-shirt.
Elizabeth comes over to me. "Isabel?" I nod, choosing not to say anything. "Wow, wicked party." I smile and walk over to the DJ, and hand him a cd of music I like; mainly Nightcore'd music. As soon as the music comes on, everyone starts dancing. The song, "Awake and Alive", by Skillet, brought everyone to life. I just listen to the lyrics,
"I'm at war with the world and they,
Try to pull me into the dark.
I struggle to find my faith,
As I'm slipping from your arms.
It's getting harder to stay awake
And my strength is fading fast
You breathe into me
At last!" Ryan walks over and sits with me as I watch the others dance.
"Aren't you enjoying your party?" He looks hurt almost.
"I love it, Ryan." I hug him. The song changed, to a nice slow song, "What makes you beautiful", by Boyce Avenue. Ryan stands up and offers me a dance. I accept, and we slow dance amongst many of my enemies. I wrap my arms around Ryan's neck, and he has his hands on my hips. I look for Sorrin to see if he's watching, and when I can't find him, I kiss Ryan. It feels as wonderful as when I first kissed Sorrin, but this doesn't feel wrong at all. When I open my eyes and break the kiss, I see Sorrin standing off to the side, watching me with anger and pain in his eyes.
