Manipulator

Chapter 4

Ryan stands, unprepared for my wrath. I offer him a sword, my only kindness at this point. Taking the hilt in his hands, he waits for my first opponent. I imagine a wolf, thrice the size of any large wolf. The creature walks out onto the platform, eyes a strangely entrancing blue, fur as black as night. Its fangs are razor sharp, waiting to kill. I order it to attack, and the beast lunges at Ryan's throat. The fool simply sidesteps the great wolf and slashes its side, killing it quickly. I become enraged, and try another monster. I pick a dragon, with brightly gleaming green scales and fire red eyes and send it against him. It is a similar tale; he sidesteps its attack and kills it. I, regrettably, choose the monster from the graveyard. The entire scene changes, from a high plateau into a foggy flatland. The creature begins to come at him, a terrible thing of which description is difficult. At best, it is a vazoul, with grey skin and horrid dead eyes. Its teeth are covered in fresh blood, and it moves slowly, yet it can appear quick to the fearful eye. Ryan remembers this from our past, but stands strong. As the vazoul approaches, Ryan charges at the thing, only to be sidestepped by the wretched thing. It goes to bite him, but I stop it. I return us to the tree house.
Ryan pants. "What was that?" He wonders aloud breathlessly. I sigh, trying to think of how to explain my power.
"Well… um, I do that when I'm upset, I guess." I tell him. "I can control a specified area with my mind, molding it into whatever I want until I choose to release it." He looks at me, dumbfounded. I begin to cry, feeling horrible for doing that to him again. He wraps an arm around me, like an old friend.
"Hey, I think that is really cool." He whispers, as though he's afraid someone will hear him. I smile, but still tears run down my face. "Is it only used for violence?"
I shake my head, and draw around the room again. I stay on the ground, but still transform the room into a quiet, secluded forest scene, with a waterfall tumbling from a quartz cliff. Ryan looks around in awe, and I know I've impressed him. I imagine a doe to pass by, in the forest. Ryan almost looks ready to explode with wonder. I make it all vanish, returning to my tree house. Ryan looks kind of sad, with makes me sad too, for some reason.
"Well, I'd best go home." Ryan says, looking sadly at the door. Compulsively, I kiss him on the cheek and whisper good night in his ear. He just walks out the door and leaves me, which honestly, I'm used to. I climb into my faux-bed, and pull the warm fuzzy blanket over me. Strangely, my mind thinks of how cute Ryan can be when he isn't with his friends. I fall asleep with Ryan on the brain.
