Spell on Me

Vivienne Alexa Cadwallader

I stepped onto platform nine and three quarters and stopped for a moment, letting my mind wander over my past experiences here. While I hardly remember my life before Hogwarts, I remember every moment here as clear as if it were yesterday.

I moved closer to the empty tracks knowing that my friends wouldn't be here yet and let my mind wander back to that first fateful day on the train.

----

I was so excited. I sat alone in a section of the train, blood racing for the journey to Hogwarts. I had grown up playing with magic, learning spells from my older brothers, flying on the little broomsticks my mom would buy me, and wishing for the fateful day that my letter would come.

I had four older brothers who all told me stories of the wonderful world that was Hogwarts, I waited in anticipation for the new friends I'd make to come and join me. They had all found their best mates on the train and I didn't want to break that tradition.

A knock broke me from my trance and I looked up as a young boy with short brown locks, deep brown eyes, and the best puppy face I'd ever seen, stood by the door.

"U-um may I sit with you?" He asked.

"Of course!" I smiled gesturing for him to join me. "I'm Vivienne Cadwallader, what's your name?"

"Liam, Liam Payne," he responded, a smile now covering his small face.

"It's nice to meet you!" I smiled and opened my mouth to ask another question when another knock sounded on the door. This time a girl, who appeared to be our age, stood in front of us. She had light brown hair that fell past her shoulders and a large pair of crystal blue eyes that were filled with fear as she looked at us.

"H-hi my name is Faith Flinch-Fletchy I was wondering if I could sit here...everywhere else is full," she whispered looking between Liam and I.

"Of course!" I smiled jumping up and pulling her into the small space. "My name is Vivienne and this is Liam."

She smiled back seeming to gain some confidence. "What house do you want to be in?"

"Gryffindor" Liam and I spoke in unison smiling at each others answer.

"Same!" She smiled warmly at us the fear in her eyes melting into happiness.

"So," Liam began, "how about if we all get sorted in Gryffindor we sit together at the feast?"

"Okay," I exclaimed looking over at Faith who simply nodded in approval.

My reminiscing was cut short when I was suddenly tackled to the ground by an unknown body. I was about to lash out in anger when I looked up and saw the smiling face of my best friend looking down and me.

"Viv, you really need to stop spacing out like that," Liam smirked as he helped me off the ground.

"Well maybe some people shouldn't tackle others to the ground to get their attention," I huffed, looking at Liam's never changing puppy dog face. Even at the age of sixteen he could get anything and everything with those big brown eyes.

"I missed you," he opened his arms and wrapped me in a hug.

I sighed but still whispered an "I missed you too"

"Um excuse me but aren't you missing someone," a familiar voice asked behind me.

"Get in here Faith, you know you don't need an invitation," I yelled, not moving from my position.

Suddenly a hard weight hit my back and I couldn't help but laugh as Liam moved to place a kiss on Faith's hair in his way of saying welcome back.

"All together again," Liam smiled looking down at the two of us.

I nodded, my mind going back to that day on the train. I couldn't help but feel proud of myself for both carrying on my family tradition of being a Gryffindor but also making best friends out of the two people that sat with me on the train.
