Give Me Love

Smelly Introductions

The three of us didn’t bother to morph, I mostly figured it was because I didn’t know how, as we ventured into Fork’s territory and eventually the Cullen household. Along the way Jake and Seth filled me in on everything that had been happening and what the vision meant.

The vision was a result of the wolf spirit melting into my own, he was the purple fog that was suffocating me. The hand that had taken hold of me was the symbolic vampire trying to take me down though the blood and spirit of the wolf protected me and woke me from the vision. The burning came from the first unconscious transformation and the heightened senses of the wolf, Jake said, would start to show themselves within the next couple of days.

I listened carefully to everything he said, and it all made sense. It was all also strangely comforting, to know that everything I had gone through to get here was normal for someone like me. Seth and Jake then began to explain what was happening with the impending war and they covered every single detail.

The baby, Renesmee, wasn’t exactly a baby any longer. The child was rapidly growing and maturing, the cause was still unknown, making Jacob panic a bit from what I could see and there was nothing that anyone could do. Also, this had turned into something much bigger than just a battle between two packs of the same blood. The leaders of the vampiric world, called the Volturi were planning on coming to Forks sometime this winter to annihilate the child to keep order in their society.

I got a little lost with those technical details, but apparently a child vampire was highly illegal in their world, but Renesmee was somehow different because the child had a heartbeat and was born—not created. Either way, Jacob, Leah, Seth and the Cullens were all struggling to gather a large group of vampires to come and testify that Renesmee was, in fact, no danger to the human and vampire worlds.

Basically to sum it all up, chaos was clearly rising, extremely bad vampires were about to pour in and try to kill just about everyone and my boyfriend, my best friends, my brother and myself were in the middle of it all. To say my head was spinning was the understatement of the year but I did my best to just nod and comprehend as Jacob led me to the Cullen’s front door.

I hadn’t expected their house to be as pretty as it was, glass paneled all of the walls and the furniture was highly and stylistically modern, but I couldn’t help but notice a weird smell. A Jacob lead us through the house nervous energy pulsed between the three of us and Seth refused to let go of my hand, not that I argued. Jacob warned us that he was going to go into the room first and let everyone inside know what had happened while Leah remained on patrol outside in wolf form.

So, when Jacob disappeared, leaving Seth and myself at the bottom of an elegant stairwell. I bit my lip as Seth used his hold on my hand to pull me into him. “I can’t believe this is happening,” was all he managed to say.

“Yeah,” his arms tightened around me as I spoke. “Me either. I mean, how is this even possible? Jacob said himself that Leah was an anomaly, and now here I am, Imprinted on by you and one of you.”

Seth nodded and pulled away from me but still stayed close, “I don’t what how this happened, or why this happened but I promise you I’m going to do everything in my power to keep you out of this.”

“I’m afraid we can’t afford that, Seth,” said Jacob’s steady voice from the top of the stairs. “We’re ready for you to meet everyone.”

I bit my lip and nodded, taking the first step but Seth gently placed a hand on mine and stepped in front of me. “Let me go first,” he whispered as he lead me up the stairs but sent one of his brilliant smiles my way. “Just in case something happens, okay?”

I let a small smile grace my features too, “Okay.”

We reached Jacob, who then lead us down a hallway and I couldn’t help but wrinkle my nose, the smell from earlier was only getting worse. We rounded a final corner and the smell became overwhelming, I literally pinched my nose as my eyes fell on nine of the palest, most beautiful people I’d ever laid my eyes on. Each of them, except a little girl that looked to be about age five who I assumed was Renesmee, had piercing golden eyes, flawless skin and small smiles on their perfect lips.

“Welcome and thank you for coming, Kara,” one spoke up, his hair was short and as golden as his eyes. He looked like he could be in his mid thirties and his posture was straight, Kara assumed he was the leader of sorts. “My name is Carlisle, this is my wife Esme, my children, Alice and Jasper, and Emmett and Rosalie, and Edward and Bella, and this is Renesmee.”

As Carlisle addressed everyone by name, they acknowledged me in their own way. Esme had kind eyes and sent a generous smile by way; Alice, a petite woman with a fitting pixie haircut, smiled and excitedly waived; Jasper, with honey colored shaggy hair, smiled and nodded; Emmett, impishly grinned and winked a golden eye; Rosalie, an absolutely stunning sight merely nodded her head; Edward watched tensely and nodded the slightest bit and Bella openly smiled from her position on the sofa with an unlabeled thick chapter book in hand and the child beside her.

The little girl, Renesmee, confidently approached Seth and myself on her slightly wobbly bare feet, but her focus was solely on me which felt surprisingly intimidating. Seth turned his gaze backward and cautiously, but encouragingly looked at me but suddenly his expression changed as he noticed my fingers pinching my nose.

“I’m sorry, but don’t you smell that?” I asked, trying my best not to sound rude but the stench was overwhelming. I honestly couldn’t even think of any adjectives to describe just how strong the odor was. My thoughts were interrupted though when everyone suddenly began to laugh at me. “I’m sorry, did I miss something?”

Carlisle controlled his laughter first but the smile remained on his face, “I apologize, I forgot you are still a new wolf. Vampires have a distinct odor to your new nose, as do you to us.”

Seth tugged on my hand and caught my attention, “You’ll get used to the smell, don’t worry.”

I smiled but it turned into a little bit of a grimace, “I sure hope so, because no offence but you guys stink.”
