Indescribable

Kat was pacing in the study when Calum arrived home. "Kat, you need to calm down." He walked over to his wife and started rubbing her shoulders. "If you don't, someone will think you are up to something."
"I am up to something." Kat scowled.
"Kat." Calum looked at his wife for a moment before continuing. "We have to be more discreet. I know you are upset about what the files contained, but-"
"Upset!" Kat spun to face Calum. "The government I had so much faith in destroyed my brother!"
"I am aware dear."
"You do not understand! You never will!"
"Kataline Slora." Calum said sternly, raising his voice barely an octave higher. Kat froze; Calum never raised his voice at her. "We have to be careful. This is a very serious matter that must be dealt with with the utmost care. We cannot let the government know what we do. Not only will that put you in danger, but it will also put Kally, Jameson, and Rai in danger. We cannot do that to them."
Kat deflated and slumped into Calum. "I know. I just cannot handle this injustice. "
"I know Kat, I know. Try to calm down a bit and we will think of something to do."
"Okay." A few moments later the couple heard the door to the house open.
"MOOOOOMA! DAAAAAAD" Kally yelled as she ran through the house with Jameson in tow.
Kat and Calum looked at each other before walking out to their children. "What have I told you about running around the house?" Calum asked in mock stern.
"DAD!" Jameson yelled as he ran to his father.
"Hey their son." Calum smiled and bent down to pick up Jameson. "How was school?"
"Sowar!" The young boy smiled before rambling excitedly about his day. Calum looked up at his wife who smiled lovingly at her family. She cradled Kally in her arms as she and Calum walked over to their couch and listen to their children's day.

~~~Rai's POV~~~
I hadn't talked to Zane in three days, partially ashamed that I'd snapped at him. Dr. Samara had arrived on the ship a day after Zane's announcement and I still hadn't greeted her. Deciding it was about time to put on my big girl underwear, I headed to my old office. "May I come in?" I asked.
Dr. Samara turned with a startled smile, "Oh please! You don't need to ask, this is still your infirmary."
I gave a hesitant laugh, "Yeah." I walked in and stood next to her. "I'm sorry I haven't come to welcome you. I've just been in a bad place." I looked down and scuffed the front of my boot on the floor.
Dr. Samara smiled gently, "It's okay, I understand." She hesitated before asking, "Are you okay? I don't mean to be offensive but you look terrible." I knew I did. I had lost some weight, I had purple under my eyes, my skin was a pale grey color, and overall I looked like I just gave up.
"I know." I muttered back, "But it's been rough."
"I can tell. I know when you were captured you were not fed much and your stomach is still probably very sensitive, but you have to eat."
"I'm not hungry." She gave me a stern look. I sighed and replied, "I know."
"You should. You're a doctor for goddesses sake."
I scoffed, "Not right now."
"Rai, just because Zane put you on leave doesn't mean you aren't a doctor and I know you know that."
"I know!" I growled and then slumped in a chair, "I just can't sit around all day. I need something to do and by him banning me from doing my duties, I'm going crazy. I wouldn't have survived last time-" I shook my head.
"Last time?" Dr. Samara asked.
"Nothing."
"You have to talk about things Rai or you'll never move forward."
"I have someone to talk to." I replied with a grumble.
"Make sure to talk to him or her."
"It's not that simple."
"Why not? There are psychologists for a reason Rai."
"I am one." I playfully narrowed my eyes at Dr. Samara. "Have to be in order to be an infield doctor."
"But even a psychologist needs to see someone to talk to. You're going to break if you keep it all to yourself."
"I don't think I could break anymore." I whispered.
"What?"
I looked up, "Nothing. I should get going and apologize to Zane. Thanks Dr. Samara and welcome to Myrra. Later." I waved and headed out. I quietly walked around the corridors trying to find the pack. I found most of them either in the training room or dining hall but still couldn't find the one person I needed. I frowned as I headed down into the bowels of the ship.
"Hello Miss Rai." Krynos greeted.
"Hey Krynos. Did Zane come by here?" I asked as I walked up to him.
"Alpha Zane went into the woods."
"Thank you." I smiled and headed into the woods. I wandered aimlessly until I felt a presence behind me. I kept walking until I came to the clearing the wolves usually ended up at to rough house. I turned to find a large black wolf slowly walking towards me. I started playing with the edge of my sweatshirt as I said, "Hi Zane." The wolf walked towards me until he was about five feet from me and then sat down. "I ah, wanted to say I'm sorry I yelled at you. I know what you did was in my best interest and I shouldn't have argued." I wasn't looking at him anymore. "I can't- I can't do this again. You took away the one thing that distracted me, even for a little while and that's why I yelled at you." I felt myself being pulled into strong arms and I hid my face in the crook of Zane's neck. "Being a doctor was the only thing that kept me going after Jay's death... How am I suppose to move forward this time? I don't know what to do."
"The pack is here for you Rai." Zane reassured, "You aren't alone this time. We'll get through this."
I gripped him tighter, "I had to watch everything Zane. I was drugged out and could do nothing. I should have recognized his signs. Wolves don't get sick!"
"Shhh, it wasn't your fault Rai. You did all you could, hell you did more than anyone would have expected."
"Doesn't feel it."
"May not, but you are amazing Rai. From the little I've been told about what you went through, most wolves wouldn't have fought so hard as you. Marco never would have blamed you especially after what happened to you. You never willing would have put anyone especially a pack mate, in danger. How many times have you done something stupidly heroic to save one of us even though we are wolves?" He pulled away and lifted my face so I was looking at him. "You are a silly human who does everything in her power to save us wolves even though we would heal and are faster."
"You aren't immortal."
"We aren't and you have helped and saved us more times than we could ever think a human ever would especially willingly do. Let us help you Rai, you don't have to be... what is the old Earth phrase... super woman all the time."
I couldn't help but laugh, "I don't try to be."
"Sure." He smiled before going somber again, "Lean on your pack Rai, that's what we're here for."
I flinched a little and looked down, "I'm not pack Zane, I'm just a human in a werewolf unit. Humans can't be in packs."
"Says who?"
I opened my mouth and then closed it as my face scrunched up. After a moment I opened my mouth again and replied, "Everyone."
"When have we ever gone with what everyone said?" I couldn't help but smile; we rarely went with the flow of things. "We are our own and you are pack just like everyone else in this unit."
I shook my head, "They don't believe that. Maybe Dek and Rory, but I'm sure Jasper and Trina would object to you calling me pack."
"I don't think so. You may have never realized it Rai, but you have been considered pack for a while." I went to object but Zane place a finger to my lips. "You act more like a pack member than a lot of wolves who willingly turn. It's not just about being a wolf, it's about protecting, caring, and always looking out for each other. Willing to sacrifice yourself to make sure everyone else is okay and you've done this on countless occasions even when we tell you not to." I looked into Zane's eyes and I knew my eyes held a question. His eyes stayed on mine as he replied, "You are pack Rai. Get use to it." I felt my body release tension from my muscles as I smiled with tears dripping down my face.
"I hope those are tears of happiness." Zane smiled gently at me as his thumbs wiped away the moisture.
I chuckled and replied, "They are. You don't know how much being told I'm pack means to me."
"Tell me then."
I felt the blood vessels in my cheeks dilate as I answered, "For a girl who never quite fit in anywhere growing up and then being told I don't belong anywhere because I've 'forsaken' the human race and I'm not a werewolf, being told I'm part of a pack is indescribable."
"Don't listen to those who say you belong nowhere because they are wrong. You don't only have a pack, but you have more friends throughout the stars than people in all the galaxies."
"I don't know about that , but thank you."
Zane pulled me back into a hug and whispered, "Anytime. Ready to head back up."
"Not really." I replied honestly. "I wish to pretend for a little while I'm not in outer space losing my mind. I would like to lay down in the grass and listen to the fake wind in the trees."
Zane chuckled, "Alright. Do you want me to stay?"
"Please."
"Okay, but do you mind if I shift back?"
"Go right ahead. I may or may not use you as a giant furry pillow." I smirked. Zane gave me a look before taking a step back and started the shift. "What? You usually don't mind when I use you." Zane gave a playful nip at me before settling down with his side exposed. I quickly followed suit and slotted myself between his front and hind legs.
~~~3rd POV~~~
"She broke her agreement." Dr. Sullivan growled as she paced before her large screen.
"You are not making sense Doctor." A man in his 30s said, a bored look on his face. The fifteen men and women around him mirroring his expression.
"Dr. Aleara-Rain Night! She informed some wolves of what happened that day."
The man sat up and leaned forward. "What do you mean?"
The doctor stopped pacing and faced the Council. "She informed some wolves about the experiment we performed on Theta Jayce Night."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. When she, the rebellion leader Sebastian, and two of the wolves with her walked by me, they seemed to recognize me. Sebastian was angry and lunged at me while the other two wolves subdued him, but they definitely knew who I was. She even told them to step down and move on."
"Are you sure? As in, risk your job and life on it?"
"I've never seen them before and by the way they looked at me, they knew."
"Thank you doctor. We will discuss the matter and take necessary steps." The man disconnected, leaving the doctor alone.
