My W Unit

He Would be My 'Brother'

"Have you talked to Kat lately?" Zane asked as he sat on the examining table in the infirmary of Myrra.
"Not really." I replied, not looking up from some paperwork.
"You should, she's your sister." The gentleness in his words bothered me.
"Didn't stop her from spouting of things she knew nothing about." I felt his eyes on me, but I still refused to look up.
"I understand you're mad at her, most of the pack still holds some anger towards her, but she's your family and you should make up with her."
"The pack's my family."
"Blood family."
"What if a family member of yours accused you of things as she had!" I snapped.
"If my brother yelled at me for something I didn't do, I would be angry but I would try talking to him again. Especially after everything he learned."
I looked up startled, "You have a brother?"
"Yes, he's a few years older than me and I have a younger sister."
"How is it that we've truly known each other for over five years and I never knew this?"
"Never came up?"
"I'm your doctor Zane! I should know this. What if you needed a transfusion or an organ or something?"
Zane chuckled, "You'd find out and contact them."
"Does anyone else have siblings I don't know about? I've met Rory's gaurinn of a brother and Deklyn's talked about his family and obviously I know that Trina and Lyla are sister, but anyone else?"
"We all have families Rai, but it doesn't mean they all accept us. Excluding myself, everyone in this pack was turned and therefore have human families."
I sighed, "True, I should know eh? Or partly know. What are your siblings like?" I returned my gaze down.
I heard Zane shift as he replied, "Cadence is quiet and is more of an observer. She'd rather be reading or drawing than out partying. Don't get me wrong, she has quite a group of friends and can be very social, but she does enjoy her alone time. She is finishing up her schooling for literature so she can teach. However, if she's opinionated you better have a well organized case or she'll tear you apart."
"Literally?" I teasingly grinned.
"If you are her sibling, yes."
"What of your brother?"
"Asher is the silent type you want on your side. Him and Cadence are similar in temperament, but where Cadence likes to read, Asher likes to be going. He's always doing something and it's rare to see him sitting down for more than two minutes. He's always building or fixing something."
"Was he ever in the military?"
"No, he doesn't exactly support our government. He won't speak out against it, especially when I'm visiting but his silence makes it plain enough."
"Have you ever had a fallout with either of them?"
"Minor ones with Cadence when I don't agree with her and she almost tears my head off. We usually make up about a day or two later. Asher though, we had arguments but nothing that made us not talk to each other. Well, except one that lasted over three months."
"What was that one about?"
"Me joining the military."
"Oh..."
"It wasn't as bad as you probably think. I informed everyone about my decision the day before I was to shuttle off to Central Prime and he flipped. We didn't end up making up and I left. After two months of training, I was finally able to talk to them via com units and we made up.Not being able to talk to him and make up was hard and only got harder with time. Do it soon Rai, because before you know it years will pass and you have just gotten her back."
"I know." I let my head drop to the desk, emitting a small thud. "Life is difficult sometimes."
"It is, but talking with Kat will make it a little less stressful."
"It better or I'm going to bake and not let you have any."
"That's harsh." Zane pouted. I turned my head to grin at him. "Feeling better?"
"A little. Have we decided what to do with Myrra yet?"
"We're still thinking. Does Myrra have a cloaking device?"
I sat up and thought, "I don't know, but I feel she should. Most battle ships have some sort of cloaking to sneak up on enemies."
"Please check into it."
"No problem. I talked to Kyle and he said he has three housing units for us. Two are in the same building while one is about a block away."
"Excellent. Have you heard from Calum yet?"
"No, but he should be getting back to me soon. If he can pull this off, we are going to need to change our looks soon so we can put pictures on our papers."
"Who's figuring out how we are being split up?"
"Either you can or Calum will split us up. Kyle and I figured that the group without you or Killian will live closest to you, while Killian's group will live the block away so few wolves will have to depend on him."
"Killian should be in the group with two." I nodded. "Have you thought of what to do with our appearances?"
"A little. Rory might be the hardest because of his soft features and inability to grow facial hair, but I think we can pull it off. It's a good thing I like dying my hair so much because hair color will be changing."
"Like who?"
"One of the Montgomery sisters should because they will not be related on our papers, Killian, me obviously, and probably one or two more. Some of you should grow some kind of facial hair and haircuts will be in order."
"Oh?"
"Yep, like you."
"Me?"
"Yup, maybe even straighten it. You have ridiculously curly hair."
"I know. What about yourself?"
"You'll have to wait and find out." I grinned. An hour later, I ended up calling Kat and straightened things out. I was still mad at her, but at least she was one less thing to worry about.

A month from landing on Trinity, one by one the pack came to me to change up their look and get their picture taken. Lyla was the first to have a real transformation, Rory couldn't help but stare at her in shock. She was unsure at first of how she liked it, until Rory snapped out of it and told her how beautiful she was. Lyla received a choppy layered haircut that ended a little below her chin. I bleached her hair and applied a golden blonde coloring that complimented her eyes.
Killian's beautiful red hair was darkened to a mahogany and then was cut back. Jasper's hair was lightened a bit and was told not to shave. While we lived on Trinity, he would be my 'brother.' Rory's hair was darkened to a blue black with some green throughout. His usually unruly hair was cut into the 21st Century emo haircut, suiting him quite well. Lyla couldn't help but run her hands through it. Trina's hair was shortened and colored to a more auburn color than red. Deklyn's hair was bleached to a dirty blonde color and cut into a fohawk hairstyle. He had way too much fun with his new hairstyle. As each person exited the bathroom, Lyla would take their picture and send them to Calum so he could put a face to each name.
Zane and I were the last ones to change. He came in unsure, not thrilled at the prospect of having no say in his change. He waited patiently as I cut off most of his curls so it was short in the back but still had it a bit long on top. Next I straightened it, cut it a little more so it wasn't too long, cleaned up his scruff, and finally stepped back. "I thought it was going to be more extreme." He commented, not displeased with how simple his makeover was.
"Just growing some facial hair changes you up along with straightening them locks of yours." I smirked. "Now off with you, I have to change me now." He nodded and left me alone. I looked at myself and sighed, time to be boring.
After wetting my hair, I sheared off my hair at an angle. The back of my hair was an inch and a half above my neck and came down to just below my chin. I parted my hair to the side and gave myself some side bangs. Once satisfied with the hair cut, I massaged a hazelnut color through my bleached hair and waited the allotted time for it to set. Finally I washed it and dried it. It was weird seeing myself without weird colors in my hair; I wasn't fond of it. Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of the bathroom to silence. "Ah, yes?"
"Shit Rai, you look weird with a normal hair color!" Deklyn gaped.
"Thanks Dek." I rolled my eyes and stepped up to Lyla. "Picture?"
"Y-yeah." She stuttered and got the camera ready.
"Wait." I walked back into the bathroom and slipped in my one clear and one grey contacts. "Alright let's do this." Once the picture was sent off, we all stared at each other. "This is solar weird." My packmates didn't look like themselves.
"My wolf feels confused." Deklyn commented, "Most of you look so different, yet you mostly smell the same. The chemicals are burning my nose though."
"Down side to changing hair color. Sorry everyone."
"It was necessary." Lyla shrugged. "Do we know how we are being broken up?"
"Calum said he'd inform us once he matched names with pictures. We'll find out soon."
