Snowed In

Elsie

Elsie let out a soft sigh as they settled into a suite. Her back was against the wall, and she had her head on Louis’s shoulder as he held her close. Niall had finally made it into the room after a tedious journey to the third floor on the stairs with Annie’s help. Harry, Liam, and Sam were off looking for food, while Brenna, Zayn, and Alicia were off looking for blankets and pillows.

“I must have looked crazy,” she muttered as she hid her face in his neck. It was a fact that she overstressed on many things, and she hated it. She wished that she could be as easy-going as Louis, but she couldn’t. Though she had calm down from her breakdown earlier, she was still very scared. She didn’t want to be stuck forever, and it seemed like that since the snow wasn’t letting up anytime soon.

“You’re very crazy,” he told her as he kissed her head. “That’s what makes us perfect,” he laughed softly, and she went to punch in him in the arm, though she knew it wouldn’t hurt. She wasn’t the strongest person around. Of course, a pout spread across his lips as he went to pull away from her and rub his arm. “Meanie, you’re going to give me a bruise,” he whined.

She laughed and leaned over to kiss him softly on the lips. “Sorry, but you called me crazy,” she told him against his lips before she placed a gentle kiss on his arm.

“Only supporting what you had said,” he wrapped his arms around her again, and she smiled a little bit before she realized someone was staring at the two of them. His deep brown eyes were on the two of them as he kept his arms around the pillows and blankets in his hands. Brenna was setting hers down onto the bed, while Zayn stood frozen at the door.

With a slight lick of the lips, she looked away before she went to stand up. “Mm, I’ll help, Brenna and Alicia,” she said as she came over to them. She wanted to calm down and get her mind off the snowstorm and Zayn for just a bit. As she helped set the blankets and pillows in various parts of the room for the others, there was a bang at the door and people were charging into the room.

“You guys are such twats!” Liam said as he came in with two bags of chips, some of the frozen pastries Annie had suggested, along with canned food. The two others seemed to have various foods in their arms along as their faces and hair. Sam was covered in bread crumbs and what seemed like mayo while Harry was in flour and something slimy and yellow. “These two decided to have a food fight in one of the restaurant’s kitchens,” he dropped the food to the floor as he huffed.

Elsie couldn’t help but let out a few giggles as she looked over the two, but she quickly covered her mouth to hide the smile unlike Louis who was on sprawled on the floor in laughter. Everyone but the three seemed to be laughing just a bit, and it was something they all needed really, to let out the stress that was building up.

“If you had only moved out of the way and let me grab the damn pickles, we wouldn’t be in this mess,” Sam huffed as she marched pass them and towards the bathroom, though the water wasn’t running. When she realized that, she came back out and grabbed one of the many water bottles the trio had brought up before she headed back into the bathroom. The resort was filled with food, but Elsie only realized now that they had a whole bunch. It was a practically a grocery store, and she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief as she realized they wouldn’t have to resort to cannibalism.

Harry grumbled to himself as he went to drop his stock of food besides Liam and Sam’s. “You’re the one who knocked down the eggs and started the mess!” he yelled back before he went to grab his own water bottle and start off to another room for a bathroom.

“They don’t seem like they will be getting along anytime soon,” Alicia muttered to someone as she plopped down onto the bed, making it bounce a little.

The room was silent for a moment before a loud growl interrupted the room. Elsie’s face burned a dark red as she went to cover her face. “I haven’t eaten since breakfast,” she muttered into her hands as she heard laughter. She could hear a bag being opened, and someone shoved it towards her. When she peeked through her hands, she saw that Zayn was offering her a bag of chips.

She took it slowly before she went to eat a chip. “Well, we’re going to have to warm some of this up down at the generator unless you want to eat it cold,” Brenna said as she went to pick up a can of soup. Louis came over to examine the pile of food as well before he picked up a bag of baby carrots.

“I’m sure a few of us can do that, while the rest decide what we should do for cleaning and bathroom use,” Annie said off to the side where she was sitting on the arm of a chair that Niall was seated in with his leg propped up. “The toilets can’t flush now that there is no electricity.”

“Actually,” Elsie said after she swallowed some of the chips, “you can flush the toilet if you pour a bucket of water down it. I read it in a book.” She nodded.

“What kind of books do you read?” Annie asked as she raised an eyebrow. Elsie blushed as she realized that she had told her that she read about people in the same situation in them except they resorted to cannibalism because they had no food.

Before she could say what she read, two voices spoke for her, “Everything.” Louis’s eyes instantly went to Zayn as they spoke in unison, and she wondered if he knew about his and hers past relationship. She hadn’t really told him because she found no reason to until now. Louis spread a small smile on his face, being a good sport, though she knew he wished he was the only person who knew everything about her. She knew he got easily jealous.

“Alright, I guess we can all just sit down and snack on the ready-to-go food,” Liam said as he plopped down onto the couch in the room. The group slowly settled down as Sam and Harry both joined the group, but not without Sam casting a menacing stare in Harry’s direction.
