A Dad is a Son's First Hero and a Daughter's First Love

I am The Luckiest Woman Alive

Kate's POV
I honestly didn't want to have a bacherlorette party. I mean seriously who cares about the whole last few nights of freedom? With someone like Evgeni I didn't want to do anything but celebrate the fact I was marrying that man. He was my everything.

"Hurry up the others are waiting," a rather pregnant Vero stood at my bedroom door impatiently.
"I don't see what's the big deal," I shrugged slipping on my heels.
"It's not a big deal but the boys have taken Geno out and are going to tear up this town so us girls will too."
"Monkey see, monkey do huh?"
"Oh come on," she grabbed my arm and dragged me downstairs.

"I would just like to say, I have not missed this!" I yelled as we walked into the club, the music blearing so loud I could feel my ears ringing.
"Your such a nana," she frowned grabbing my hand and leading me to the table where the others were waiting.
I was just thankful that Anne was there to keep me sane, because I would need it.

Even with her pregnant belly Vero was being the fun loving best friend I loved to have around all the time. But I had a feeling the fun would be short lived.

"Kate," she latched onto my hand, "I think my water just broke," she looked so panicked. It reminded me of when I had Asher and how scared I was the first time.
"Just stay calm, um Anne call a cab."
Nope it had just hit midnight, everyone but her was just a little but tipsy and we were going to be in for one hell of a night.

I felt like we were in one of those dumb romantic comedies. A bunch of girls at a bacherlorette party ending up in a cab with one of them in labor screaming their lungs out. The only thing that was wrong was that I wasn't the pregnant one, my maid of honor was. How about that story line?

"Evgeni just tell Marc," I ordered my rather drunk fiancé over the phone.
"Marc have baby, we go hospital now," but from the sounds of the guys cheering in the background he was the most sobber.
"Sid no dance we go," that's my future Russian husband, always the one looking after us pathetic drinkers.

Drinking with Sid was an experience in itself. He didn't get funnier but to tolerate him everyone else had to get really drunk to deal with him which in turn made him the funniest guy out. But he was almost always the first person to crash.

We got to the hospital and in the rush and complete unorganised chaos I tripped.
"Kate are you ok?" Anne grabbed me in the scramble as the girls where ushering Vero inside.
"Yeah, yeah I am fine, ouch," I got up and limped after them.

"Kate," I heard Marc's French accent behind us, "where is she?"
"They took her inside," I hobbled grabbing my ankle in pain.

"I got you," Evgeni's thick Russian accent was like music to my ears as he steadied me, "what happen?" he knelt down in front of me and grabbed my foot.
"I rolled it," I put one hand on his shoulder and tried to get my heels off with the other, "these stupid heels."
"Wait," he softly took my ankle and slipped the shoes from my feet before picking me up and carrying me inside.

His cool, calm and collected attitude was strangely making me want to jump him in this hectic situation. Who was I kidding, I wanted to jump him all the time.

"Let me see," he sat me down on one of those horrible hard plastic chairs that took up the whole waiting room.

"Where's Sid?" I began making small talk about something irrelevant so I wouldn't start attacking him with my tongue.
"I send home, drunk. Where hurt?" his finger traced the ball of my joint making goosebumps appear up my leg.
"The outside of my foot," I winced as he pressed down on it.
"Sorry, I get ice," he got up kissing my forehead before heading over to the nurse at the desk.

"You are such a lucky woman," Anne smiled nudging my arm as I stared at my foot.
"Huh? Yeah I guess," I smiled.

I really was lucky. To me he was perfect, he was the most amazing person who I planned to love forever.

"Here," he sat down pulling my leg onto his lap.
"Nurse worry, tell her not to," he laid the ice pack on my ankle letting it fall around foot.
"Thanks," I sighed in relief as my foot began to come back life.

I was so worn out and couldn't help but worry that I wouldn't be able to walk down the isle in three days but I wasn't going to even mention that to Evgeni, I didn't need him worrying too.

Fours hours later and my best friend finally had their precious bundle out in the big world now.

"Be careful," Evgeni stopped me as I tried to hurry to her room.
"I am fine," I swatted his hand away and continued to hobble.

"Nawwww guys she is just precious," I looked down at the little girl snuggled up in my arms.
"Mine cuter," Evgeni traced her cheek with a shit eating grin on his face.
"Nah dude, Russian or French?" Marc had that proud father look about him now.
"Russian," Evgeni scoffed as if it was nothing to even consider.

"Can we have another one?" I didn't want to hand her back.
"Maybe," Evgeni wrapped his arm around my pulling me back into his side.

I missed that about the twins, when they would just lay with you and sleep. Now they were growing up too fast and crawling around everywhere, never sitting still.

"So you want baby," Evgeni's breathe blew over my neck as I tried to unlock the front door.
"I don't know, maybe," I turned around but he captured my lips before I could say anything else.
"We have another baby," he smiled putting his hands on my hips bringing us closer.
"Ok," I wrapped my arms around his neck, "sounds like a plan."
