Letter #8: To a Stranger (1)

Dear Girl I Saw On the Bus,

I noticed how you would stretch your long sleeves down every so often. A thought of a reason why did cross my mind, but I didn’t want to assume anything. Unfortunately, I was right. Your sleeve slipped up. Even though you pulled it back down right away, I still saw the scars. I don’t know what’s happening in your life right now, but I sincerely hope whatever it is ends soon. I know people who have gone through self-harm. It wasn’t fun. I would’ve reached out to you, but I didn’t want to embarrass you. That’s why I can only reach out through this. You’ll probably never see this, just like I never saw you again, but I hope you know that there really are people who care and are willing to help make the pain go away.

Take care.

From,
Just Another Passenger On the CTA Bus
