On the Run

Liam let his eyes slowly slip open when he heard knocking on the door to their suite the next morning. He knew it was too early for the help, and no one else knew who they were. He went to wake Katherine, but she had already silently gotten up, pulling on Liam’s shirt and her panties before reaching under her pillow. Liam followed her lead, tugging on his jeans and silently grabbing his gun out of the suitcase.

He turned to see Katherine holding a Desert Eagle, the barrel pointed at the doorway and her eyes steely. She turned to Liam, giving him a small nod before they both walked over to either side of the door. Liam quickly loaded is Glock, looking over to make sure Katherine was ready for the inescapable fire fight. She gave him another small nod as he reached over, unlocking the door before bullets tore through the wood. He turned away from the barrage of wood chips flying every which way, glancing over only to make sure Katherine was still alright before the shots stopped.

He and Katherine both jumped to life, shooting anything that moved through what was left of the door as Enzo’s men screamed in Spanish. At the click of a shotgun Liam ran in front of the door, tackling Katherine to the ground before the bullet tore a hole through the wall where the beautiful woman had been only seconds before. The door was kicked down before Liam could stand, so he simply rolled to his side, shooting the first man he saw right in the head, killing him before he leapt to his feet, pulling Katherine with him.

He stood his ground as about six more men started in, but Katherine grabbed his arm, pulling him behind the couch before bullets began ripping through the fabric. The noise was deafening as bullets rang out and shells clattered to the ground. Finally as they stopped to reload Katherine and Liam popped up, spraying Enzo’s men with bullets. Both were numb to the crimson flying all over the room before the huge, burly hit men, men like Louis and Zayn, hit the floor with sickening thuds.

The pair waited for a moment to see if anyone else would come charging through the door, but when they were met with silence they shot to their feet, knowing they had to get out before more of Enzo’s men showed up. Liam looked over at Katherine for a moment as she pulled on a pair of skin tight jeans before shoving her gun in the front of them. He couldn’t help but smile at the knowledge she was just as numb to this as he was.

As she started throwing what clothing wasn’t stained with blood in their bag he grabbed her hand. “Liam what the hell are you-”

“Katherine, I’m done running.” He said simply. She looked up at him, knowing exactly what he was implying as his dark eyes stayed locked on hers.

“We don’t have the firepower yet.” She said simply. “Unless you have a weapons cache in your boxers I don’t think-”

“Back at my flat in Vegas I have more guns then you could ever even dream off. Grenades, ammo, bulletproof vests, and my clean up kit.” He let go of her arm, but he eyes didn’t move. “If we move now Enzo might think we’re dead.”

“How?” He nodded to the bodies on the floor, smirking wickedly.

“We take their van. Enzo thinks his boys are coming home and then we blow his fucking brains all over the carpets.” He watched her eyes darken at that before a twisted smile to match his spread over her face.

“Well then what are we waiting for?” He grinned as they ran out of the room, knowing the police would be there any second as they raced down to the garage. Sure enough, there was the van that Enzo’s men had driven, one Liam had cleaned the back of more times than he could remember. Katherine quickly hotwired it, the two taking off just as the police arrived, their eyes set on the border.

Liam didn’t care if it killed him, or if it killed Katherine. All he knew was that he was going to kill Enzo, and it was not going to be quick. He let sick visions run through his mind as he and Katherine made their way through Mexico, headed towards the hornets’ nest and certain death.
