You Should've Been Here

You said you'd be here.

Madison managed to keep herself busy once she got at home. It was easy to do so since she had a party to plan and she couldn't help but worry abut her job thanks to Vic.

As the girl hung up the phone with a bakery to make sure the cake she was getting for her friend's birthday party would be ready, she sat it beside her only to hear it go off instantly.

A grin hit her lips once she noticed Vic's name flash on the screen. She immediately answered it and pressed it to her ear, "Hello?"

"Hey baby, what are you doing?"

"OH just finishing up things for this birthday party." She responded leaning back against the couch.

"I can't wait to see how this turns out." He chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah. So what's up?"

"Not much, just heading to the next place. I'm missing you so much." He said causing her to blush even though he wasn't here to see. He just did that to her.

"I miss you too."

"Just two more days. Fuck. Why does that seem so long?"

"Because you're sexually frustrated already?" She teased and laughter filled her ear, "Ok, I won't lie. I plan to do very bad things to you when I get home..."

"Vic!"

"What?! No one is around me! You asked, I told you!"

Madison chuckled and Vic let out a sigh, "I love you."

"I love you too of course, but I'm about to go shower. I've got to go out and get some things."

"A shower? What are you wearing right now?" Vic asked now interested as he sat up in his bunk.

Madison rolled her eyes, "Um, a shirt of yours."

"Just a shirt of mine?"

"Well and some underwear. Yes." She responded as she made her way up the stairs.

"Fuck me. Why aren't I there?!" Vic groaned.

"Don't think about it if it's that big of a deal."

"It is! I want to see you like that and I really want to touch you like that."

"Settle down." She snickered and he whined, "Don't be mean to me. I'm a guy. I need my girlfriend."

"Well only two days."

"Two days too long." He grumbled an she laughed as she grabbed some clothes to take to the bathroom.

"What time is your show?"

"8."

"Ok, call me when it's over."

"Fine. Why don't you love me?"

Madison laughed, "You are so ridiculous today. I love you a lot."

"I just wanted to hear you say that really..."

"Of course. I'll talk to you later. Have a good show tonight."

"Mhm. I will. I love you."

"Love you too. Bye."

The pair hung up and Madison went back to trying to get ready. She had to pick up a few more things before Saturday. Of course it wasn't hard to keep Ravyn in the dark about it all. The girl lived in her own world.

As Madison was locking up and headed to her car her phone rang once more causing her to groan.

"Vic, I'll kill you." She spoke into the phone not bothering to look at who it was just figuring it was him.

"Ok, well, I'm not him, but you can still kill him if you'd like..." Mike said coolly causing her to laugh, "Oh hey, what's up?"

"Poor Vic..."

"Shut up. Why did you call?"

"So fiesty! So, I need advice..."

"Mike Fuentes is calling for advice! I need to tell the world!"

"Yeah, yeah. Now listen woman!"

Madison snickered as she headed to the store to pick up some last minute stuff.

"Hello?" Mike said becase the line went silent.

"You told me to listen!"

"You're such an asshole!"

"Tell me!"

Mike groaned, "Anyways, what should I get Ravyn for her birthday?"

"That is why you called?!"

"It's important! Like, I don't know, I want to get her something special..."

Madison's eyes went wide although no one was around to see it, "You want to get her something special...you like her!"

"We've just been texting a lot lately. Nothing serious and she probably doesn't think anything of it, but I just, well, fuck, you know what I'm saying!"

Madison couldn't help but laugh, "You legit like a girl. Like, you don't just want to sleep with her!"

"Why are you making me sound like an asshole?!"

"I'm just saying. This is epic!"

"I hate you."

Madison laughed, "Right. Well on a serious note, that is the cutest shit I've ever heard. You two would be great together actually."

"Whatever. So what should I do?"

"Awe. Come to her party. Bring her flowers and ask her to be your girlfriend!"

"This isn't an 80's movie, Madi. That shit doesn't go down like that."

"It could and she would love it. She's cheesy like that."

Mike sighed on the other line and ran his hand down his face, "Fine. I'll do it. If she thinks I'm a tool afterwards I'll murder you."

"She won't. I promise. Aweee. I can't wait!"

"Ugh! Bye!"

Madison couldn't help but laugh as they hung up. It really would be perfect for Mike and Ravyn to date. Well in her eyes anyways.

She immediately dialed Vic's number and he picked up on the second ring.

"Oh now you want to talk." He teased and she rolled her eyes as she got out of the car and hurried into the store.

"Shut up and listen."

Vic laughed, "What now?!"

"Vic, if you tell him I told you I'll break up with you. I mean it."

"Whoa, whoa. Settle down, novio. I can keep a secret."

"Ok, well Mike just called me to ask what he could do for Ravyn for her birthday because he likes her."

"What?!"

"Shhh!"

"You're joking right?"

"Why would I make that up?"

Vic started laughing, "Oh man. I cannot wait to give him shit for this!"

"Vic!" She warned and he laughed, "Babe, not now, but in 2 days it will be out in the open right?"

"Yeah..."

"This is why I keep you around." He joked and Madison rolled her eyes as she tried to focus on what she needed to get.

"I'm sure. Well, just had to tell you that, why I don't know, but I've got to finish shopping."

"Because you love me, that's why."

"Whatever. Bye."

Vic chuckled, "Have a good day. Love you."

"You too. Bye."

Madison shoved her phone in her pocket and went back to what she was doing. The next two days flew by thanks to the party and by the time it was the day of she was anxious for several reasons. One being because she would get to see Vic soon and another because she hoped Ravyn liked the party.

"I mean, it looks awesome." Beth, Ravyn's sister said as she looked around the bar she had rented out. Beth had been helping her and she had to admit that the two pulled it off well.

"We're good."

Beth laughed as she glanced at her watch, "So we have an hour before she gets here."

"And people should start showing up soon."

"What time is Vic and them getting in?"

"In about an hour actually." She responded as the door opened and the pair looked over to see a few people they knew walk in. Before either of them knew it the place was packed out and was in full swing as they waited on Ravyn.

"Ok people she is almost here!" Beth shouted to quiet down the crowd.

The large group waited for about ten minutes and once the door opened revealing Ravyn a loud mixture of the word, 'surprise' covered the girl. Ravyn looked stunned and Beth and Madison laughed as they walked over to her.

"I can't believe you two did this! I should kill you!"

Beth laughed, "Oh it's awesome don't lie!"

Ravyn hugged her sister and Madison before Madison made the girl go socialize with everyone. She then glanced at her phone wondering why she hadn't heard from any of the boys. She decided to step outside and call Vic to make sure everything was ok.

"Hello?" He answered and she leaned against the building, "Hey you. Where are you?"

"Running late. We got held up at a meeting and Mike left an hour ago because he's love struck so yeah..."

"Ugh! Hurry up. I want to see you."

Vic couldn't help but laugh, "You'll see me. I promise. Did you decide to wear that red dress? Because if so I need to prepare myself."

Madison rolled her eyes as she looked down, of course she wore it. He wanted her to and knowing he thought she looked great in it made her feel great in it.

"Maybe."

Vic chuckled, "I guess I shall see."

"Mhm. Just call me when you get in town."

"I will."

The pair hung up and she went back to join the party. Her mind was preoccupied for a good bit until Mike texted her asking her to come outside. She quickly fled the room hoping Ravyn didn't notice.

"Hey." He said nervously and a smile hit her lips, "This is going to be so sweet."

Mike shrugged, "I'm not good at things like this..." he grumbled clutching the flowers tightly in his hand.

"You'll be fine. She likes you. Trust me. She basically brings you up everyday."

Mike's eyes seemed to light up at that, "Yeah?"

Madison chuckled, "Yeah, so go."

"Thank you for this." He said hugging her to his side.

"No problem. You're like a brother to me. I'd do anything for you."

"Back at you, M." He responded kissing her head.

"Wish me luck?" He asked as he pulled back from her.

"You don't need it."

A smile hit his lips, "Vic should be here soon."

"Go." She replied shooing him away with her hands.

She watched him through the window as he made his way to the girl at the bar. A smile hit her lips as she watched Ravyn look completely embarrassed. It took a lot for that to happen. Mike was a good guy though. Yeah, he did stupid things sometimes, but deep down he was a lot more like Vic than he wanted to ever admit and she knew that. It's why she found herself always rooting for him.

"Did you just play match maker?" She heard and turned to see Tony and Jaime of all people.

A smile hit her lips, "Yeah. Cupid right here."

Tony laughed, "I've never known him to care like that."

"It's the Vic in him." Jaime said as he patted her head on his way inside. Tony stepped beside the girl and her eyes went to him, "Where is Vic?"

Tony sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, "Late like always."

She simply nodded and looked back at the crowded bar. She didn't want anyone to know she was a bit bummed about it.

"Let's go inside." He offered and she nodded as he led her to where Jaime had found a table. An hour or so passed quickly and although she was having fun, she found herself growing frustrated with Vic. She tried to be calm about it, but now his absense was bothering her.

"How the hell did you two get here on time if he was with you?" She asked and Tony looked up from his drink innocently, "Call him."

She rolled her eyes as she grabbed up her drink and headed outside to call the stupid boy. The alcohol in her was probably not making anything better.

"Where are you?" She asked once he said hello.

Vic sighed on the phone as he tried to explain himself, but he knew the truth, he was screwed.

"I got a call to do an interview with a magazine that's a pretty big deal so I had to go and it took longer than I thought."

"Why didn't you just tell me that?"

"Because I thought it would be quick."

"So where are you now?"

"Not in San Diego?" He responded crinching waiting for her to speak.

"Of course not."

"Don't be like that..."

"This is starting to feel like deja vĂș really." She mumbled as she flashed back to her own party a few months ago.

"Madison, why are you mad right now? It's not like it's your birthday!"

"No, because you missed that as well! I just keep thinking ok, one day he's going to pick me over his career! Silly of me to think that now we are a couple you wouldn't do that, but no, that's too much to ask. You probably never will. You'd rather go to an interview than see me. Oh and let me say that this is while your brother flies across country to see a girl he isn't even with."

"It isn't like that, novio." He said seriously as he glanced at his watch. He would be home in an hour and a half but he felt like that wouldn't be soon enough.

"Don't novio me, Vic." She said angrily, "Just forget it. I'm over it." She grumbled before hanging up on him and shoving her phone in her pocket. She wasn't going to let him ruin her night. Not this time.

Vic groaned and slammed his hands on the steering wheel of the rental car. He had to get home. He was now terrified that if he didn't he my have just lost the one girl he couldn't live without.
