You Should've Been Here

But there's one thing missing,

"Vic?" Madison spoke nervously as she crossed her arms, watching him from a distance as he stepped into the bathroom.

"Wait, I don't really know how to read this. Why can't they just put yes or no?!"

Madison breathed in as she rolled her eyes, "Blue or pink, Vic?"

"Blue." He spoke looking through the doorway to see if he could read her reaction because he had no idea what that meant for him.

Madison felt herself relax and she opened her eyes to look at the confused boy before her.

"I'm not pregnant."

Vic sighed in relief, the anxiety inside rushing away, "I swear, we are never having sex again."

"What happened to everything would be fine?" She asked, shooting him a look and he rolled his eyes walking to her, "It would have been, but still scared the shit outta me."

"Yeah..." She mumbled and he cupped her face, "I think we will have amazing kids one day, I just don't think either of us are prepared for one right now."

"Agreed."

"Are you ok?" He asked seriously and she nodded. She was now. Just exhausted from the whole situation. Plus, between the fact that Mark still didn't know the truth and the 'scare' her and Vic just experienced, she just wanted to go home now.

"Why don't you just take the rest of the day off?"

"Vic, it's my first day back. I can't."

"I don't see why you can't do 3/4 of this job at home anyways. It makes no sense."

Madison rolled her eyes, "Well, I just follow the rules."

"I know, I know. Well at least let me get you lunch."

"Ok." She whispered and he kissed the corner of her mouth, "I love you so much and if you were in fact pregnant I would be just as happy just so you know."

"I know." She mumbled, knowing Vic well enough to know that he was telling the truth.

"It's gonna all be ok." He mumbled against her forehead as he held her to him and she relaxed in his arms.

"Just for heaven's sake let me deal with it. I'm sick of you being stressed out."

"Ok." She finally replied. Giving in to something she swore she wouldn't but she just didn't have it in her to keep fighting.

"Go get us some lunch and when you get back it'll all be smoothed over. I promise."

She nodded, now eager for fresh air as he pulled away from her.

Vic grinned as he grabbed for his wallet, "Look, take this. Mike can go with you."

She sighed and took the credit card from him and he pecked her lips, "Love you."

She repeated his own words before leaving the office to find his brother.

Vic on the other hand raked his fingers through his hair. Today had not been what he expected. The thought of being a dad almost did him in and on top of that, how was he going to fix this Mark thing? He really had no choice though. He swore he would, even though his nerves were now in shambles thanks to the whole pregnancy thing. (It was karma he was certain. He shouldn't have lied in the first place.) He would do this for her even if he was now worried about it.

Vic breathed in and took the short walk to Mark's office and unfortunately the man was no longer on the phone.

"Oh, there you are. You were wanting to speak to me?" Mark asked as Vic stepped in, closing the door behind him.

"Yeah, I'm just going to come out and say it simply because I don't want this falling back on Madison." Vic started and Mark seemed to immediately grow confused.

"Madison isn't pregnant. I lied, but she had no idea. I just wanted her on tour with me because I had fallen in love with her and maybe it's ridiculous, but I don't regret it. I just want you to know she had no part in it. She'd kill me if she knew the truth."

The room went silent and Vic immediately winced waiting for the man to rant and rave about how stupid he was, but when it never came he glanced up at the man who had an amused look on his face.

"Well?" Vic finally spoke and Mark sighed, "I knew."

"How?!"

"Well, I mentioned it to Cindy, you know, the receptionist and she told me it couldn't have been possible because the girl asked for a tampon a few days before your speech."

"...And you aren't mad?" Vic asked questioning the man's behavior.

"Nah, I could tell you were in love with her from the first time I saw you with her. Hoped you'd man up for once."

Vic rolled his eyes and Mark laughed,"But, how about not lying to me again."

"I swear it."

Mark nodded with a chuckle, "You guys kill me."

Vic groaned, "I'll never lay this down, huh?"

"No, never. But please tell me you at least got the girl."

Vic tried not to grin, "Yeah, I did."

"Good, this is the speech I'll give at your wedding because I know it'll happen eventually."

Vic groaned, "Yeah, yeah."

Mark laughed as the boy left his office in more relief than he thought possible. It was like a weight off his shoulders and he couldn't wait to tell Madison. At least she would feel a little better and that's all that he wanted.

Vic made his way back to Madison's office and wasted time on his phone until the pair showed back up, lunch in hand.

A smile hit his lips immediately, "Madi, everything is fine. I talked to him."

Madison breathed out as she sat the food on the desk, "Really? What was said?"

"We will talk about it later. Just know, you're fine. Don't worry about it anymore. Let's eat."

Madison placed her hands on her hips, staring down at him as he relaxed in his seat.

"Uh, are you ok now?" He questioned, uncertain by her reaction.

"I love you, Vic Fuentes."

A chuckle left his lips, "Yeah, it happens."

Madison then leaned down kissing him softly and he grasped her hand, "I love you too." He breathed, before kissing her once more.

A smile hit her lips and he couldn't help but return it just because he felt like it had been forever since he had seen a real smile on her face. He couldn't help but be proud in himself since he was the reason.

"Now let's eat!" Mike spoke up, crashing his hands together and Madison laughed before sitting down. The whole Mark issue being off her plate made her feel 90% better. Hopefully, their lives would go back to a calmer state which she so desperately craved. Even if that almost pregnancy still seemed to hang around in her head. She surely could get past that...
