You Should've Been Here

Christmas lights glisten,

The next few weeks passed rather quickly. Vic and Madison both pushed that night to the back of their minds not wanting to even think of it. Although at times Vic couldn't help but do so. Especially when he was alone and he wondered 'what if'.

"Where is my blanket?!" Vic asked as he looked from his bunk to anyone who was around. They had been driving for almost a day now and he was starting to go a little stir crazy.

Tony snickered from the bunk above the boy's and Vic looked up at him as he pointed to Madison's bunk. Vic groaned and reached over throwing open the curtain.

"It was extra cold! You forget some people aren't hot natured!" She defended as he realized she was wrapped up in her blanket and his.

"Fine." He stated before giving up and climbing into her bunk with her.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm tired." He stated and she groaned as he pulled the blanket from her grasp and threw it over him.

"Shit why are you so cold novio?" He asked cuddling her to him.

"Because you freeze everyone out! Sorry I'm not Mexican!"

"I'm offended..." He snickered.

Madison rolled her eyes and he pulled her closer until their legs were tangled together. She buried her face into the crease of his neck and silence covered the two.

"We should be there in a few hours..." Vic stated as he shut his eyes.

"Looking so forward to it."

Vic laughed at her sarcasm, "Oh come on. You've been around Kellin and them."

"I know. I'm kidding. I'm kind of excited to see them."

"Right. Excited to see Justin..." He mumbled remembering the last tour they went on with the boys. Madison seemed to hit it off with the bass player of Sleeping With Sirens and although nothing ever became of it, it now worried him a bit. He guessed in a way it did because now he felt a bit differently about her. Even if he was unsure what that meant exactly.

"Am not."

"Liar."

"I mean, he's cool. So what?"

Vic chuckled, "Go to sleep, Madison."

"Ugh." She grumbled turning to face away from him and he placed his arm around her waist. He couldn't help but hope that was all that was to her and that boy.

The pair eventually fell asleep and woke up to Mike telling them they had arrived and were meeting the other band for lunch. Vic groaned and cuddled the girl closer to him.

"Madi..." He whispered trying to wake her and she mumbled that she was up.

He kissed her temple before sitting up deciding to not be late.

"Come on Madi." He said grabbing her hand and she mumbled as he pulled her from the bunk.

She yawned as she went to fix herself up. Afterall, whether she liked him or not, Justin would be there.

Within ten minutes the two were ready and followed the others out and down to the restaurant they were meeting at. It didn't take long to find the boys around a table being loud as ever.

"Why am I not surprised you are with them?" She heard and looked over at Kellin as everyone said hello.

"Hello to you too."

Kellin laughed and hugged the girl, "Going to be just like old times."

"Sadly..."

"Justin will be happy..." Kellin said with a wink as he went to say something to Tony.

Madison blushed as she sat beside Vic and Justin looked at her from across the table. A grin hit his lips once he caught her eye.

"Hey." He spoke softly and she smiled, "Hi."

Vic rolled his eyes from beside her unsure how he was going to be able to handle a whole tour of them flirting again.

Mike elbowed him and Vic shot him a look.

"Just admit it." His brother mumbled and Vic shook his head before looking at the menu before him. There was nothing to admit to.

Madison ended up chatting with Justin almost the whole time. It was like they picked up right where they left off. She did have a crush on him the first time around, but now she was unsure if that was still the same. She wasn't sure she liked anyone really.

"So are you going to be like that the whole tour?" Kellin asked Vic as they left the restaurant.

Vic gave him a questionable look and the boy laughed, "Oh come on. You like Madison. I mean, why haven't you realized this yet?"

"I don't like her..."

"Really? So you were glaring at Justin because..."

Vic rolled his eyes and shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Why are you so scared to admit it?" Kellin asked seriously, brushing his dark hair from his face. Vic and him had become good friends after they toured together several years ago. Kellin felt like if anyone had a right to question him it was him.

"Because things will change?" He added and Vic sighed as he looked at his feet as they walked to the buses.

"I need her too much to lose her. Plus, she deserves someone way better than me." Vic breathed out and Kellin rolled his eyes, "And what's wrong with you?"

"Oh come on man. Madi is...yeah, I mean, I'm not her type. I'm just a guy in a band that breaks way too many promises. She can do better."

Kellin shook his head, "You are crazy, man. You two are perfect for each other."

Vic shook his head no, "Nah, I mean, she's...she's one of those girls that like you are terrified to touch because she's so perfect you know? I just, well, I'm the opposite of that."

Kellin sighed, "You are ridiculous. You have no idea what you're saying. She would drop everything to be with you. We all know that. Hell, she does it now."

"It's different though."

"Ok. whatever you say." Kellin stated giving up.

"Vic!" The pair heard and Kellin gave him a look as Vic spun around to see the girl in question.

He grinned weakly as she caught up with them.

"Leaving me?" She teased and he laughed, "No, novio. I'd never leave you." He responded placing his arm around her shoulders.

"Is your girl here?" Vic asked Kellin and he smiled, "Yeah, this is why I have a bag of food. The baby was asleep so she stayed."

"Awe. A baby. I must see."

Vic rolled his eyes at Madison's girly moment.

Kellin laughed, "And you can."

The pair followed Kellin onto the Sleeping With Siren's bus and he called for his wife who appeared with a baby in hand.

"Awe. She's so cute."

Kellin's wife, Kaitlynne laughed, "You can hold her if you want."

Madison nodded and picked the small child up gently.

"Hey cutie." She cooed and Vic leaned against the wall watching her interact with the child. A grin hit his lips as Madison got her to laugh and Kellin smirked, "Oh yeah. I'm right. So right."

Vic rolled his eyes before sitting beside Madison on the couch. He reached out touching the child's hand and she smiled at him immediately.

"Awe she likes you." Madison stated and Vic began covering his face with his hands in order to play peek a boo with her. Madison laughed as the baby giggled in her arms.

"You're a lot cuter than your dad that's for sure." Vic stated and Kellin stifled a laugh, "Funny."

"She's so sweet." Madison said with a smile and Kaitlynne laughed, "That's a front."

"Don't tell her that. Right now she will baby sit for you for free." Vic joked and Kellin laughed, "Oh in that case. Yes, yes she is. An angel 24/7."

Madison laughed as Kellin picked up the child, "Just kidding. She really is. Daddy's little girl." He cooed kissing her nose as the child giggled.

"Spoiled." Kaitlynne stated and Vic chuckled, "Of course."

"Yeah, she is. It changes you, man. It's pretty weird." Kellin said looking at Vic and Vic smiled, "I see that."

"Maybe you and Madison need to have one." Kaitlynne joked and Vic shook his head, "The world couldn't handle our child."

Madison laughed, "True."

"Imagine what it would look like...it would be really cute because of Madison obviously or rather scary because of you..." Kellin joked and Vic glared at him as the girls laughed.

"Awe. What are you saying? Vic is rather cute." Madison said grabbing the boy's chin. Kellin snickered an Vic spoke, "Thanks novio."

"Why do you call her that? What does that mean? I've always wondered!" Kaitlynne stated and Vic shifted in his seat uncomfortably from the smirk resting on Kellin's lips.

"It means bitch."

"Vic!" Madison stated and the boy laughed, "I'm kidding! But look, we need to go. We need to start moving our shit to the venue."

Madison got up from the couch to say goodbye to the baby.

"Well?" Kaitlynne asked with crossed arms and Vic sighed, "It means sweetheart basically."

Kaitlynne grinned, "Oh..."

Vic rolled his eyes knowing that would never be let go of and he grabbed Madison's wrist, "Come on. I swear you will have plenty of time with her."

"Ok, ok." She whined and he led her from the bus. His head swarming with too many thoughts at the moment.

"Are you ok?" Madison asked tugging on his hand.

"Oh. Um, yeah. Fine. Just ready to play tonight."

She nodded not believing him though and it didn't take them long to reach the van where all their equipment lied and everyone was unloading.

"I'll go harrass the others while you guys do this..."

"Oh can't help?" He joked and she laughed, "Don't want to."

He chuckled, "Alright, well shoo."

She raised up on her toes and kissed his cheek, "Don't work too hard." She said before sprinting off.

Vic watched her until she was out of view. He knew he was in trouble now and he wondered if he should have just left her at home for his sake at least.
