Only nine minutes into the date and it was already quite awkward, at least if you asked Hayden. Jordan had brought her to a fairly simple diner that she'd been to a few times before and where she knew the food was good. The waitress had left not even five minutes earlier and the two were sitting in silence. Hayden couldn't come up with a way to start a conversation that would last longer than a minute but she didn't know the reason for Jordan's silence.

When Hayden looked out the window, Jordan took the time to really look her over. Blonde hair hanging around her shoulders, olive green eyes catching the sunlight through the window and he was glad to see that she wasn't one to dress up unnecessarily, as she was wearing jeans, boots and a simple long sleeved shirt. Jordan guessed that her comfortable way of dressing also came with the job of working with kids all day long.

Hayden could feel Jordan's blue eyes on her but willed herself to ignore him. He was the one determined to take her out and she'd be damned if she would be the one to get the whole thing rolling.

Another few minutes passed before Jordan finally said something.

"The weather's nice today."

With an eyebrow raised in disbelief Hayden turned away from the window to look at him. "Are you seriously going to start a conversation about the weather."

The dark blonde brow sank when she saw Jordan's grin. "It got you talking, didn't it?"

Hayden couldn't help but grin back and as Jordan looked for their waitress, she took it as an opportunity to check him out. Blonde hair was hinting underneath the cap he was wearing, a slightly darker scruff on his face. When he smiled, the dimple in his chin grew deeper and those blue eyes lightened. Jordan's impressive upper-body was restrained in a simple dark blue, long sleeved shirt, and Hayden couldn't help but feel faint at the sight of bulging muscles in his arms and shoulders. The fact that the sleeves were pushed up to his elbows, displaying strong forearms, didn't help either.

Lost in thought, Hayden didn't notice when Jordan turned back around and was still staring straight at him.

"Like what you see?" He asked, face once again splitting into a grin. Snapping back into reality, Hayden's eyes left his chest and travelled to his eyes. She gave him a small, crooked smile while willing herself not to blush, and looked after their food as well.

"Eh, it's alright," She lifted a shoulder in a shrug but continued smiling.

When they exited the diner and returned to Jordan's car, they had another five minutes until Hayden had to be back at the school, and since the drive only took barely a minute they had some time to kill. Since she didn't know what they could do in four minutes, Hayden walked up to the passenger seat door and waited for Jordan to unlock the car, which didn't happen.

"Are you in a rush?"

"No, but what can we do in four minutes?" As Hayden turned, he was standing directly behind her, making the height difference even more obvious than it already was. Her breathing hitched when Jordan leaned down, his face only inches away from Hayden's. From the corner of her eye she could see his arm lifting but no more than that since she couldn't look away from his blue eyes.

"I guess I better drive you back then," Jordan said as he opened the passenger door for her before walking around the car. Hayden stood frozen for a couple of seconds before breathing out.

Jesus- fucking- Christ.

Taking a deep breath, Hayden prepared herself for another couple of minutes trapped inside a car with Jordan Staal.
