Stardust Love

The New Boy

Morning came and Taffy got ready for school. She always had trouble waking up due to her anxiety during the night. She would toss and turn for a couple of hours then finally fall asleep. Taffy started to grab her bag but didn't get to it in time as Henry snatched it away.

"Give it back, I have school today, Henry." Taffy said as she unsuccessfully tried to get the bag back.

"Troublemakers don't deserve to go to school so nah!" Henry said as he tossed the bag to Lucy.

"You should be more like Henry and I. Oh wait. You can't because you're an awful child to mom and dad!" Lucy said, almost smiling.

Darryl came out of the bedroom and was shocked. “Hey, what is going on here?! Lucy, put that bag down. I heard your words. Henry, you too. Get your butts in your rooms. You think Taffy is the awful child? Well, who are the ones who think bullying your sister because of her differences is the way to go?! Not a word from either of you until afterschool. I'm tired of the way you're treating Taffy." Darryl said, almost huffing and puffing, as he hugged Taffy and wiped her tears away.

Taffy got to school soon after. Taffy got to her first class which was life science. Taffy saw there was a new boy but didn't want to go and talk to him because of her disabilities and the fear and worry he would do something to set her off. The new kid was Bryan Privette.

Bryan noticed Taffy, and boy, did he think she was beautiful. Bryan was muscular, had red hair, freckles and blue eyes. Bryan noticed there was a empty seat so he went to go sit by Taffy. He lightly tapped her on the shoulder, causing her to scream and fall off her seat. Taffy was light as a feather so she took some time to get up.

"Hey, I noticed this seat was open. I hope you don't mind me sitting by you. Bryan stated, in awe of her beauty.

"No, that's ok. I'm used to sitting by myself so this is a change." Taffy said happily as she took out her books and homework. The bell rang and class started soon after.

"Now class, if you would take out your worksheets." Taffy searched for the worksheet she finished but started to cry as soon as she realized she didn't have it.

One of the other students saw this and decided to make her feel worse.

"Hey, why is the dumb girl crying? Did she leave her binky at home?" The student said, sending a few students to laugh but most of the class.

Taffy cried more as more and more students laughed at her.

Finally, Bryan got up. "How would you like it if someone teased you for being fat, skinny, of a different race or orientation? I don't see what the point is in making fun of someone who has a disability and can't help that. Think before you speak." Bryan said as he sat down again.

"He has a point. It's not funny and I expected better from all of you." The teacher said sternly as his back began to turn to the class.

Class ended and Bryan saw Taffy by her locker. "Hey, you're by yourself a lot. May I ask why?" Bryan said, a little curious.
