The Agent's Daughter

I love you

Clint’s Point of View
It had been a few weeks since Maddy had died, and we were all still grieving.

Nick was obviously getting tired of us, not doing anything.

Nat barely trained anymore.

Tony and Pepper barely left Stark Towers.

Bruce wouldn’t come out of his lab.

Steve wouldn’t leave the gym.

Me?

I barely left my room.

The night that, Maddy had died, and I fell asleep at S.H.I.E.L.D, I placed my hand under my pillow to find an envelope.

I turned on my bedside lamp, to see that the envelope was addressed to me.

I opened it, to find a letter addressed to me.

Well, it wasn’t a letter.

When I read it, I smiled, as a few happy tears threatened to appear on my face.

It was from Maddy.

It said three simple words.

It said, I love you.

There was something else in the envelope.

I took it out.

It was a photo.

When, I saw the photo, I grinned.

It was an old photo of Maddy and I.

Before the Tesseract project.

Before Loki came.

Before the war.

Before I had made that mistake of letting go.

Before her coma.

Before her death.

I propped the picture against my lamp, turned it off, and fell asleep.

A few weeks later, Nick had made each and every one of us come out and to the S.H.I.E.L.D base.

We all sat around our table.

My seat beside me, still empty.

I was hoping that Fury wasn’t going to lecture us about not doing anything for the last little while.

Instead, he did something that surprised all of us.

He said that he didn’t blame us for grieving for so long about Maddy.

He kept talking about her, until Agent Hill walked into the room, and she went up to Fury, and whispered something in his ear.

His eyes darted to the door, near the back.

Everyone except for me, turned around.

I had taken the picture of Maddy and I out, and I was just looking at it.

Wishing that, I could see her again.

I didn’t know that everyone had left the table.

I didn’t know that someone had entered the room, until I heard Nat call my name.

I stood up and turned around. I saw a girl with familiar reddish-brownish hair, hug Nat.

I walked closer to the group, and I smiled, as I saw the most beautiful face that I had ever seen in my entire life, looking back at me.

With a giant smile plastered on her face.

She ran over to me, and threw her arms around my neck.

My arms wrapped protectively around her waist, not wanting to let her go.

Ever.

Then she whispered the 3 words that I loved to hear her say.

This time I knew what she was saying. “S 'agapó̱…”
