Keep Digging Holes in The Desert

Once I got there I parked my car and saw My old friend Lilly standing out front with another envelope.
I walked up to her and smiled.

"Lilly?"
"Hey, Val. How've you been?"
"Good just wondering what Vic is up to."
"Oh, he wanted me to give this to you. Good luck."

She smiled, hugged me, and gave me the envelope.
I watched her walk off.
I looked down at the envelope and opened it.

I folded the paper and walked back to my car.
He was so paying for my gas...
I drove to the cafe in town and saw Danny my other old friend sitting at a table outside.

"Valerie, how's my bestie been?"

Definitely still full blown flamer.

"Pretty good, hows my gay best friend been?"
"Look, Hun, i'll tell you later. Finish you're little adventure first. Here's my number."

I smiled and he got up and left.
I opened the envelope.

I got up and got back in my car and made my way to the park.
I got out and the wind hit me blowing my long hair behind me.
I smiled at the familiar smell of mulch.
I walked towards the swing set and saw someone swinging on it.
Victor.
I walked over and sat on the swing.

"Hey, stranger." I said.

He looked up and smiled.

"You're so paying for my gas."
"I know."

I smiled and shook my head.
He got up from his swing and knelt in front of me holding both my hands.

"Valerie, you've been the girl I was looking for and I wish I saw it before but I want to say that I love you with everything i've got."

He pulled out a small ring.
It had a simple heart rhinestone in the center with my birthstone as the rhinestone.

"Now, it's not an engagement ring. It's a promise ring. Promise me no matter what we'll stay together and stay strong."
"I promise."

I smiled.
He smiled and slipped the ring on my left hand and pulled me in for a kiss.

"I love you, baby."
"I love you too."
