Everyone needs someone they can tell everything to. Everyone needs that rock in their life that they know will always be there. If you don't have one, you feel empty, alone, and worthless.
Neither Lily nor Brendan had that special person, so they become each others. Brendan learns things about Lily that no one else ever will, and when a scary occurrence in her life comes out, he makes it his goal to fix the broken girl he met on the first day of school.
