Bad Enough For You
Six.
Rowan sat in front of her closet, trying to find something to wear for her date with Harry. He hadn't told her what they were going to be doing, so she didn't know how she should dress. She grabbed her phone and called up Macy, hoping that she could help.
"Hello?" Macy's voice answered after two rings.
"Hey Mac, I'm having a wardrobe crisis and I'm in need of your assistance..." Rowan replied.
"I'll be there in fifteen minutes!" Macy replied back.
The beeping that Macy heard signaled that her friend had hung up the phone and Macy went back to sitting in front of her closet, hoping that some sort of an idea for an outfit might jump out at her. She debated a few times about calling up Harry, asking what the plan for tonight was, but she just couldn't do it. Something about Harry made Rowan feel a little on edge, something she only recently just realized. He was so forward with her, so outgoing. And Rowan was so....not. She was on the quiet side, preferring to keep things to herself. Much of it had to do with her ex-boyfriend, Jeff, the one who she had fallen in love with before she found out that he was just using her. Rowan was left broken and miserable, the light that once had been inside her went out after they were through. She had only told Macy about what happened, knowing that she could confide in her best friend. After the breakup, Rowan was always hesitant about boys. She didn't want to be hurt again, and she was always finding something wrong with anyone who showed any interest in her. So why was Harry so different? Why did she agree to go out with him after everything she has gone through?
A knock on the door broke Rowan from her thoughts as she scrambled up from the floor and went to the door. She was met with Macy's bright smile once she opened the door, and ushered the brunette inside.
"So what do you need help with?" Macy asked once she was inside.
Rowan chewed on her lip. Besides running into Harry at lunch a few days ago, Rowan hadn't told Macy anything about Harry. "Um, well. I uh, I have a...date. Tonight." She stuttered out, looking down at her feet.
Macy's eyes went wide, "A date? What?! With who?" She questioned.
"Um, remember that guy, Harry? The one we ran into at the restaurant?" Rowan replied.
"You're going out with Harry Styles? No fucking way!" Macy practically shouted.
Rowan went red, embarrassed by her friends reaction. "Yeah, he met me at the shop this morning and asked me out. And I said yes."
"Well, that's uh, great? Yeah, that's great. But are you sure you want to do this Ro? He's got kind of a reputation of being a playboy, and after what happened with Jeff-" Macy started, only to be cut off with a look from Rowan.
"I know I probably shouldn't, but, there's something that, I don't know, makes me drawn to Harry. I didn't agree at first, but eventually I did. I don't know why exactly, but I did. And it's too late to back out now. He'll be here in like an hour. And I actually sort of...want to go." Rowan frowned.
Macy sighed. She didn't know how to respond to her friend. Macy didn't want her best friend to get hurt again, but she was also happy that someone was finally able to get her out of her funk. But why did that someone have to be Harry Styles? He was infamous for breaking girls hearts, and Macy did not want her friend to go though that again. But when Macy saw how the two acted during lunch, there was no denying the attraction they had to each other. "Alright, fine. Of course I'll help you. But just, be careful with him, yeah?" Macy finally answered.
Rowan gave her a small smile and a nod, and the two girls headed into Rowan's bedroom to find her an outfit.
An hour later, Rowan was dressed in a white collared lace dress, black tights, and a light gray knit cardigan. Macy decided that since Rowan didn't know what the plan for the night was, it was better to go a little casual mixed with a little dressy, that way she would look suitable for whatever the night had in store. Macy had just finished curling Rowan's blonde locks when strong knock came from the door.
Rowan's breath had caught in her throat. Harry.
Rowan turned to Macy with panicked eyes, "What do I do?!" She asked.
"Well for starters, you answer the door." Macy said with a chuckle.
"Right, I knew that." Rowan said while standing up, walking quickly towards the front door. She took a deep breath, then grabbed the knob and opened the door. Harry was dressed in dark jeans, and a crisp white button up. Brown leather shoes adorned his feet, and his hair was in its signature mess of curls.
"Hi, Harry." Rowan smiled slightly.
"Hello, love. You look absolutely stunning, as per usual." Harry replied with a big grin, showing of his perfect white teeth.
Rowan blushed, "Would you like to come in for a few minutes? I'm just finishing getting ready."
"Sure, I'll just hang out in the living room if that's alright?" Harry asked.
"That's perfectly fine, gives me a chance to interrogate you before you take out my best friend," Macy replied before Rowan got the chance, "I'm Macy. We met briefly at the restaurant a few days ago. Rowan, finish getting ready, we'll be here when you're done." Macy always was a bossy one.
Rowan looked to Harry, embarrassed by her friends over protectiveness. Harry just chuckled, "It's alright, love. Go finish getting ready, don't leave me waiting too long though." Harry said with a wink.
Rowan blushed again, something that seemed to always happen around Harry. She ran back towards her room to finish apply her make up and to put on her shoes. While applying her eye liner, she could just barely make out Macy and Harry's conversation just down the hall.
"Where are you taking her?" Macy asked Harry.
"Uh, I was going to take her out to dinner and then go for a walk in the park." Harry answered her.
"What time is she going to be home?" Macy continued her questioning.
"Late tonight, probably. I'm not exactly sure." Harry stated to grow uncomfortable. Rowan chuckled. Macy was very over protective, always has been. She could make grown men shake with nervousness if she really wanted to. The fact that she was making the one and only Harry Styles quiver was something worthy of a laugh.
"What are your intentions with Rowan? Why do you want to go out with her?" At this question, Rowan's ears perked up, intrigued by what Harry's answer might be.
"I like Rowan. She seems like a fantastic girl and I just want to get to know her better." Harry said with confidence. Macy didn't reply. His answer seemed to have shut her up. Rowan just smiled to herself. Maybe Harry was different after all. Maybe this was going to be something good. She slipped on her black ballet flats and made her way to the living room.
Harry stood up as she entered, giving her a warm smile and offering his hand. She grabbed it hesitantly, but gave him a smile back once she did. Rowan looked at Macy and gave her a smile as well.
"I approve, I guess. Just remember what I said earlier Ro, please?" Rowan nodded, thinking back to the girls earlier conversation about Rowan being careful with Harry.
"You got it. Thanks Mac, I'll see you later!" Rowan said, knowing that Macy would be staying at the apartment until Rowan returned home so they could discuss the date.
"See you. Nice to meet you, Harry." Macy said.
"Lovely to meet you as well, Macy. Have a good night." Harry smiled as the pair headed out.
"You as well." Macy replied, giving him a weary look.
Harry was nervous. Did Macy know Harry's true intentions with Rowan? No, of course she didn't. They had only just met. She was just looking out for her best friend. That's what friends are supposed to do, right?
Harry pushed all those thoughts out of his head as he led Rowan out of the building and towards the restaurant they would be dining at. Rowan looked up at him as they started their walk, giving him a big smile which made Harry's insides flip.
What was that? Harry thought to himself, not used to the feeling of butterflies in his stomach. He look a deep breath and smiled back at Rowan. She looked absolutely beautiful, that he had been honest about. One of the few things he had been honest about since the two met.
This is a quick fling, that's all. Harry tried to remind himself. Just something to occupy my time. That's it. We'll be done soon enough. Just stick to the plan, Harry. Stick to the plan. But as he continued to sneak glances at Rowan, he seemed to realize that his little plan might be harder to stick to than he originally thought.

Yeah I suck, I know.I have a little writers block but, yeah.
This sucks, sorry, but the endings pretty important.
You finally get to know Harry's plan, and you get a glimpse into Rowan's past.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you're thinking?
The next one will be up soon, hopefully!
