Sequel: Splitting Pearls

Fifty Words for Embarrassment

I don't like it when people start off the telling of their stories by asserting that they are ordinary people who have been unexpectedly thrown into extraordinary circumstances. Forgive me for sounding phony, but I truly believe that absolutely everyone is extraordinary and that everyone's life can be a shimmering, exciting thing if they only let it.

When I was a kid, though, I was lonely. I thought that I was ordinary. Maybe you'll be able to see what I'm saying better if I tell you my own story. Would that help? You'll see how I blossomed, how I found friendship and yes, love, and even managed to have my band get its own (local) following. And then maybe you'll see that it's not so different from what your life is like, after all.
