Paging Dr. Iero.

Check Up (Part 1/2)

“C’mon, Gerard, hurry up or you’re going to be late for your doctor’s appointment!” Mrs Way shouted up to her seventeen year old son, who was currently lying on his bed, attempting to ignore her.

He was trying to ignore her for the simple fact that he hated going to any place that was associated with the practice of medicine, which meant he hated hospitals, doctors, dentists, and so on. It wasn’t the place that freaked him out really, it was his phobia of needles, and anyway, who actually liked going into a place full of people expelling their germs over everyone who came within a one metre radius of them?

“Gerard Arthur Way, get down here now.” His mother’s voice was shrill, and it began to irritate him right down to his bones so he decided to concede to his mother’s wishes and he grumbled a few curse words under his breath as he tugged his scruffy, well-worn black converse on before making his way downstairs.

“Finally, he emerges.” Gerard’s younger brother, Mikey, rolled his eyes and spoke softly under his breath.

Mrs Way looked him up and down disapprovingly, tutted under her breath before motioning for her two sons to follow her to their small Ford Focus car. She quickly got into the driver’s side as Gerard got into the passenger next to her, while Mikey got in the back, white iPod ear buds already visible as he decided to ignore the world around him. He didn’t want to be here anymore than Gerard did, but he thought it’d be better to come along as he it would be better than sitting at home alone.

They arrived at the doctor’s practice relatively quickly, much to Gerard’s disgruntlement. He scowled as he looked at his mother and she sighed softly.

“It’s only a check-up, you’ll be out soon enough.” She ruffled his hair in affection and continued. “We’ll even wait for you, okay?”

“Fine.” Gerard nodded, biting his lip slightly.

“Oh, also, you have a new doctor, his name is Dr. Iero.”

“Yeah, yeah, they’re all the same.” Gerard grumbled, getting out of the car and made his way to the surgery, sighing heavily as he shuffled through the door and scrunched his nose up in disgust. God, he really hated places like this, and he really didn’t want to be here, he’d rather be sat up in his room and away from the world and-

Who was that?!

Gerard couldn’t help but stare into the hazel eyes that seemed to stand out in the almost empty waiting room.

“Can I help you?” Gerard couldn’t help but feel a bit deflated as he noticed that the hazel eyes belonged to a doctor. Even though he was an extremely attractive doctor; an extremely attractive male doctor.

Oh.

“Erm, yeah, I have an appointment at, uhm,” The teenager looked up at the clock and watched the moving hand for a second before looking back at the man, his eyes catching sight of the name tag and he could’ve sworn his eyes bugged out of his skull as he realised that this man, this God-like creature, was none other than his new doctor, Dr. Iero. “It’s at four, with… you.”

“Oh, yes, you must be Gerard Way?” Dr. Iero inquired, smiling at Gerard and Gerard could feel his cheeks heat up. Oh, god, why? Why him? Why now? Why couldn’t Gerard have met him at school or-?

He was interrupted by Dr. Iero beckoning him to follow him to his surgery room and Gerard tried not to stare at his doctor’s ass, he tried, he really did, but the way Dr. Iero swung his hips didn’t leave much to Gerard’s imagination about what the doctor looked like underneath that white coat…

“Here we are.” Dr. Iero looked over his shoulder as he unlocked the door, smiled at his patient before walking inside. “Uhm, sorry about the mess.”

Gerard nodded, quickly sitting down on the chair in front of the desk and suddenly had a vision of being bent over the desk, Dr. Iero’s voice in his ear… he crossed his legs upon feeling his jeans tightening slightly and he tried to stop the explicit thoughts running through his mind.

Dr. Iero ran a hand through his hair and licked over his lips, sitting in his chair, trying not to stare at his patient. It was his patient, oh man, and a teenager at that, not legal. Not at all legal. He’d get fired if he even tried anything. It’d be his whole career down the drain, not to mention, a criminal record. He couldn’t risk it, definitely not. But what if… No, he shut down those thoughts immediately.

“So, Gerard, is it?” He inquired softly, sensing a slight apprehension in the teenager’s body language.

“Erm, yeah, but you should already know that? I mean, I’m your patient, and you’re my doctor?” Gerard bit his bottom lip and crossed his legs tighter because somehow, in this light, his doctor looked even more attractive. How was that even possible?

“Yeah, I am, but you look a little uncomfortable.”

Gerard could’ve facepalmed; oh, ya think?!

“But what I was thinking was that we could be on first name basis, ya know? But only if you want. I thought you’d be more comfortable then?” Dr. Iero smiled, but inside he was freaking. Out.

What the fuck had he just suggested? No, he shouldn’t have done that. The kid was gonna run a mile from him, never come back, and then he’d get asked why his first patient had ran and never returned, and he’d have to explain what had happened-

“Oh, erm, sure. Well, you already know my name so…” Gerard could feel his heart hammer against his chest and he didn’t even understand why.

“Oh, well, I’m Frank.” He smiled sheepishly and pulled out his notebook to check on Gerard’s medical history.
