Withered

Forever

I don't think I moved for days after I heard what happened. I lied in bed and stared, making shapes out of the speckled ceiling. When people say bad news hits you like a ton of bricks, it's true. The bricks smashed my head and crippled me, but no matter how much I thought about her, she would never be coming back. She would never wake up. She would never say her few whispered words to me in the halls. She would never look at me with her large brown eyes and blush when I caught her staring. Nothing. She would never do anything again. Emilie will lie in the ground for eternity. After I've grown old, after I've died, she'll still be there.
