Among the Lifeless

Image

Years ago, on a particularly cold night in Autumn, seven young children disappeared from a derelict orphanage just south of London. It was thought that they had been stolen, but after many years the case went cold, and the children were forgotten. Decades later, a shabby, charismatic man appeared in the public eye, claiming to have created the greatest invention in the world: robots.

Six of them were to be auctioned off to the most reputable and influential people in the United States, and the entire world was in a craze about the new advancement. No one noticed the similarities between the stolen children and the new inventions; they believed that the robots had been formed out of metal in a workshop, and treated them as such.

But what the inventor had never expected; what he had never thought to predict, was that the 'robots' were changing.

They were coming back to life. And building, bit by bit through the underground, was a revolution ready to stir the fame he'd come to thrive upon.
