A Million Nights

A group of police officers left the police station towards the airport. Once there, they settled a lot of confusion. We are in the United States and any agitation cop in an airport is the reason to throw the panic in people.
The police had discovered that both, Val and Michelle, had bought tickets to Japan and the flight was at 7 pm. They drove up to the door of the cheek in where were the sisters. Michelle begins to run through people trying to escape the police but there was nothing she could do. Val screamed for her sis, crying a lot, asking her to stop and to take what she did. Michelle didn't stop until three cops caught her.

"She deserved it! I do not regret anything that I did. I only regret having hired a bunch of idiots!"

"It's better to remain silent because anything you say now will worsen your situation in court."

"I don't care! But that bitch doesn't even think that she will live the rest of her days with my husband. SHE WON'T GONNA BE WITH MY HUSBAND!"

"Chelle, calm down. Please don't do worse than you already did."

"Shut up! You didn't even help me. Go! Now you can return to your dear husband!"

"Michelle, stop it! I'm sick of it! "

"Enough. Come on."

The police handcuffed Val and Michelle and took them to the car. Val was in panic with the attitudes of her sister and what would happen afterwards.
Michelle was arrested while awaiting trial and Val was unblemished for complicity.
The first thing she did was go to Annie's house, where they were all assembled, including Annie's parents.

*** Annie's POV ***

We were already at home, waiting for news about Michelle. We were all on the counch, staring at my phone and for Brian's one. One of them would play at any time. From all of us, the most nervous was Matt. The despair was visible in his eyes. After his wife was involved in the whole mess and he couldn't do anything.
I got up and drove me to his side, leaving Brian a little uncomfortable. It's like he doesn't trust me or Matt. Or both. At that time I had doubts if I should do it. But doubts about what, right?

"Matt, can you come with me to the kitchen?"

"Yes, of course!"

Matt got up from the couch and went to the kitchen. I looked at Brian, showing him that I knew what I was going to do and he didn't need to worry. He understood and gave me an honest smile in response. I don't understand his insecurity about me, and that makes me a little worried. However I went to the kitchen where Matt was already waiting for me.

"What's wrong, Annie?"

"I just want you to keep calm. Nothing bad will happen to Val."

"I believe that, Annie. But what is destroying me inside is the fact that I lost her. "

"But she forgave you, right?"

I get out of the kitchen and I went with Brian to my room. I got there and knocked on the door very slowly.

Brian was lying in my bed, with his head resting in his arms. He was clearly very nervous and impatient. He was moving one of his feet and biting his bottom lip.

"Brian left the kitchen to go upstairs ... he seemed to be very upset. And Annie was behind."

"Jealousy. They should be resolving the problem in the best way!"

"Jealousy by whom?"

"Gates had a jealous fit!"

"Syn? jealous? Are you kidding me?"

"Nop. I was so amazed like you! "

"He was never jealous of any girl! See? Your dear sister is leaving our brother crazy! He's completely in love with her!"

"You know what is the problem, Zacky? Annie is different from all the girls that Syn met till now. She gives him love. True Love. Unlike others who only wanted fame and sex."

Suddenly, someone rings the doorbell and Matt got up to go see who it was. He opened the door and to his amazement was Val.
He turned back and went to the stairs and started calling Brian and Annie.

“Syn! Annie! Come here. Val is here to talk to you.”

“Actually, I’m here to talk with them and, of course, with you, Matt.”

“We don’t have anything to talk about, Val!”

“Yes, we have!”

“Gates! Come on, she’s waiting!”

“We’ll be right there! Just a minute!”

“Matt, please listen to me!”

“Ok… what you wanna say?”

“I know it’s too late but… you know I love you. You are my life and…”

“You’re sorry about what happened! Val, it was your choice. If the cops didn’t catch your fucking sister, you had gone with her and I was here without you asking why did you leave me! For me, it’s enough, ok?”

Matt left the house running, slamming the door. At the same moment, Brian and Annie came down the stairs, with a confused look. Val sat on the couch, crying and Rita sat besides her, supporting her. Annie was no reaction to that whole mess and also because she didn't know whether if she could trust in Val after everything that happened. But Brian hadn't a very good reaction to the presence of Val.

“Are you happy with all the shit you and your sister did?”

“Syn, please stop!” - Zacky stepped in to try to calm Brian.

“Val, look at Annie! Look at her! Can you see the panic in her eyes? Can you see it?”

“Bri, please! It’s enough! Val is suffering a lot. She’s not Michelle!”

"It’s the same Annie. The shit is the same!"

“Brian, I know you hate me… I know you hate my sister…”

“I don’t hate your sister… I just wanna kill her, you know! My biggest dream right now is kill her…”

“Bri, please! Stop it!”

"I had no idea you had suffered so much, Brian."

"See you in pain is the worst thing people can do to me, Annie." - Val got up from the couch and approached the door.

"Annie, I just want you to apologize for everything I did. I hope you forgive me. I have nothing against you, quite the opposite. I appreciate the support that you gave me that day on the beach. But she is my sister..."

"I know. Val, it's better you go. Then I'll talk to Matt."

"Thank you for everything! Annie… Brian loves you… a lot!"
Annie smiled at Val and she left the house. Annie was still hugging Brian while he was still crying, with his head resting against Annie's chest. Zacky and Rita approached them showing all their support.

Brian got up from his chair and walked to the living room to call Matt.

The atmosphere started to get a little heavy between Matt and Brian. They began to eat and talked a bit about life in Portugal, on the typical Portuguese dishes, among other things.
In relation to Tay and Johnny, they remained in jail and this was their last night in there.
The cell had only a few frames and a cop was sitting in front of their cell.
