The Vampire's Moon

I opened my eyes, Benjamin would live. He had fully regained his life force, and was now only sleeping. I looked at Ricky. His eyes were only half open, and he was taking in short breaths.
"Will he live?" he asked, voice raspy.
"Yes," I nodded. "Benjamin will live."
"Good." He closed his eyes. "Michelle?"
"Yes?" The tears in my eyes flowed freely, and my voice cracked.
"Tell Benjamin I said I'll see him on the other side, okay?"
"I will." Another of the now familiar tears dripped from my eye.
"Thank you." He sighed. "Maybe it won't be so bad, death."
"Even in death there is life."
"I hope you're right." His voice sounded hopeful.
Then, he stopped breathing and his life force was completely drained away. Ricky was dead.
