Starting Over

The Reunion

When Fenton stepped off of the train, he utterly believed that there was no way he could find Eleanor. Boston was a gigantic city, and he was just one little man.

However, he needed to. Eleanor had run off, and she wanted him to find her.

So, he would.

Fenton had been searching for hours. He started in the train station, where he looked everywhere. Then he hit the streets, but he didn’t find much luck there, either.

It was the last place he stopped when he spotted Eleanor.

She was sitting on a bench, similar to the one in Monterey. Eleanor wore a bright yellow sun dress and a delicate fascinator on top of her head. At first, Fenton did nothing but stare. She was so beautiful, even when she frowned as she tried to read a newspaper that was all about sports.

When Eleanor saw him, she immediately stood up. Her smile was stretched across her face, and she was so happy she could have danced. Instead, she walked to Fenton and greeted him with a wave.

“You came. I didn’t think you would,” she said, sounding bemused.

“And why is that?” He asked.

“I didn’t think you’d find my letter,” she laughed, her white teeth shimmering in the sunlight.

“Well, I did. So, why Boston?” He questioned, looking around and comparing the land to California.

“I don’t know. I guess I wanted to get away from everything and just be with you,” she exclaimed, giggling to herself.

“Well, you did it,” he said, embracing her.

And for the first time, Eleanor felt complete, knowing that she was with the man she really loved.

And that was all that mattered.
