Insane Love

X. Sunday, March 3rd, 2013.

-Mia's POV-

I had never been happier in my life. For once, everything was okay with Colton and it felt like I could never get tired of this. One day is all it took for him to prove that he could make me feel on top of the world. When I told him I love him, I was completely upset because it was my fault he ignored me for a week. But once he said he loves me as well, the kiss wiped away all my doubts. All the feelings I denied, they finally opened up to his touch. I was more than thankful he found me and I bawled my eyes out in front of him while admitting everything to him.

I turned to face him on the bed and just watched him sleep peacefully. The covers were below his shirt, so I had a view of his abs, and he was quietly snoring. I couldn't help but giggle at how cute he looked. A big and 'scary' hockey player with the most fights in the league, sleeping like a little baby naked beside me.

I bit my lip and slowly slid out of bed and tip toed to my slippers that had been thrown on the ground last night. I slipped my feet into them and walked to the bathroom, undressed, since he was still sound asleep.

I looked at myself in the hotel bathroom mirror by the sink and squinted my eyes once I flickered the light on. It was much more brighter than the sun which was shining through the window, being the reason I woke up.

I stepped into the shower and let the warm water run on my hair and down my body. I sighed and touched my shoulders along with my face. Once I was mostly soaked in water, I applied hair shampoo on my head and rubbed it thoroughly.

After, I also put conditioner on and let it rest on my hair for a minute so it would be soft, and then rinsed my hair off again.

As I was rubbing the body wash on my arms, I closed my eyes and just breathed. It suddenly felt colder, like the door had opened, and I pulled the shower curtain back a little to look. No one was there so I just continued washing my skin.

I shrieked once I felt arms snake around my waist and I was being pulled closer to someone. My back was against his chest and I was laughing playfully while my neck got kissed.

"I thought you ran away from me for a second," Colton placed sloppy kisses below my jaw. He swayed on one foot to the other, and so did I, since his arms were attached around me.

"I will if you don't let go." I threatened. I bit my lip from laughing again and heard him chuckle behind me.

"I dare you," he tightened his grip on me. "Try." He kissed my shoulder.

I tried to squeeze my way out but his arms were too muscular and strong. He laughed at my attempt and I turned so I could face him, so that his arms were behind my back now.

"Weak." he smirked.

"I am not!" I defended myself even though I knew I was. Around him, at least. It's like my bones just melt whenever he touches me. He smiled and kissed my forehead.

"Now go, I'm trying to take a shower." I pushed him but he only moved back an inch.

"That's okay, I don't mind." Colton hugged me closer. My head landed by his lower shoulder, but on his chest since I was on my toes.

"Goddammit," I tried to pull myself away but I was stuck. "Orr!" I yelled but he just laughed and kissed my wet hair.

I realized that our bare bodies were pressed up against each other, every part and every inch. The water was still pouring down fast and it hit my ass since I was not under the tap completely anymore. Colton pushed us lightly up against the tiles on the wall and the water was now going down his back. He leaned in and kissed me with tongue. I kept our lips together and then finally met my hands around his back.

He pulled away and I immediately felt empty without his lips on mine. He had the insane power to turn me on with just one hot kiss.

"I think I'm addicted to you." I bit my lip and instantly felt embarrassed by my sudden confession. It definitely came out of nowhere.

He grinned and kissed my nose. Just as if he knew what I was thinking, he said, "Don't worry, it's mutual."

My eyes closed as he kissed them both gently. I loved it but hated it when he teased me like this without doing it to my mouth. He saw my facial reaction and then smiled. He put his hand on my cheek and placed another one of his soft but also heart-melting kisses on my lips.

"What do you want for breakfast?" he bit my earlobe, making my skin crawl in the best way possible.

"Uhm," I barely squeaked. The water was already hot enough, his body was still close to mine, and I swear he was making steam in this place. I could explode from the atmosphere in the shower right now. "Whatever you're getting." I told him.

"I think they have toast and jam downstairs in the lobby," he ran his fingers through his soaking wet blond hair. "Does that sound good?"

"That sounds great." I smiled and kissed his cheek.

He stepped out and wrapped a towel around his waist. Once he closed the door, I sighed and finished rinsing myself off. I dried my hair a bit with my towel and then put it around my body.

I walked to my open suitcase by the bed and picked some nice clothes out. I decided to wear a cute light purple top and gray jeans. Since most of the snow had melted, I chose not to wear boots for later today, so I placed my black toms near the door.

I plugged in Colton's iPhone charger, so I could finally charge my phone. It had been off since I came to Ottawa on Thursday. I sat down cross-legged on the bed and waited for him to come. The hotel room was regular, just like every Super 8. It had one large bed, a peachy colored carpet, a single sofa-chair, one bathroom, a coffee-maker on another table by the TV, and it was decorated with simple flower wallpaper and mountain range pictures.

I reached for my phone once I saw it was at 16% and looked at all the attempted calls on Friday. Three from Lana, three from Tyler, another three from Mike, two from Zoe, and six from Colton. Also, two voice-mails left by Colton as well.

I clicked on the first voice-mail he left at 2:46PM on Friday, and placed my phone by my ear.

Mia.. I need to talk to you. I need to see you. Call me back when you charge your phone. Please don't try to avoid me. Okay, bye..

I bit my bottom lip and then clicked on the second one, left at 10:20PM.

It still won't ring so I guess you haven't charged it or turned it on yet... Um, I.. I just.. There's something I have to tell you and I need you to confirm something Lana said. I'm driving there tomorrow and I'll get a hotel somewhere. I'll find a way. Goodnight.

I placed the phone back down on the chair, letting it charge a bit longer, and then laid my head on the pillow. I closed my eyes and felt selfish and guilty for not telling my friends, besides Zoe and Mike, that I was leaving. I had at least said bye to Brownie but he didn't know it was more than just "quitting my job." I suddenly wondered what Colton and Lana had talked about that was so important for him to come.

The knock at the door shook me out of my thoughts and made me walk my way over. I turned the handle and smiled at the man standing in front of me in the hallway with a tray of food. I crossed my arms and leaned against the left door-frame, blocking him out so he couldn't get in just yet.

"Can I help you, sir?" I smirked.

Colton looked at me weirdly and then joked. "Housekeeping."

"I don't think my boyfriend would let me have a guy over..." I cocked my head to one side and smiled up at him.

"Well then," he grinned. "Don't tell him."

"Depends," I twirled a piece of my damp hair around my finger.

"On?"

"I like men who don't interrupt showers."

He laughed and I bit my bottom lip as he walked passed my shoulder, bumping into it lightly with his, and went into the room. I closed the door and watched him place the tray down on the bed.

I crossed my legs and sat by the pillows while he sat across from me, with the food placed in front of us. He also changed into the same comfortable seating position as me.

I looked at all the hearty things he had picked out. Four pieces of toast, two small plates, a glass of orange juice and another of apple juice, a couple packets of strawberry and plum jam, butter, two tangerines, and two pairs of plastic knives and forks for both of us. I smiled up at him as he put a piece of toast on his plate.

This is really all I wanted to do. Even though this was a hotel, and this isn't our city, we were together and that's what felt more than right. I couldn't help but grin wide.

"Do you like it?" he took a sip of his apple juice and watched me eat.

"Yeah," I nodded. "By the way, I just got the voice-mails and the missed calls."

"Oh," he swallowed a small piece of buttered toast and asked the obvious. "Was your phone off?"

"The battery died on Thursday night and I had forgotten my charger on the train," I explained. "I borrowed yours, if you don't mind."

"What's mine is yours, Mia." he said quietly. I smiled at those words but didn't look up at him. Then, once I did, we just stared at each other for a bit while chewing on our food.

"How did you know I was in Ottawa, anyway?" I asked curiously, hoping it wouldn't cause him to ask why I went on that date with Kyle.

"Well, Lana helped me." he drank some of his apple juice. "Zoe told us that you came here but she didn't know exactly where. So, the next day I packed my stuff and Bozie and Brownie wished me luck." he said. "I had no idea I was going to find you yesterday, to be honest. I just went for a walk and saw the familiar flower shop and then.. I found you."

I bit my bottom lip and thought back to his voicemail. "What did Lana tell you?"

"She had called me and left a message, so I called her back. Tyler and I then met her at Tim's," he told me. "Eventually she told me that you have feelings for me, and that you love me." Colton placed his fork down. "I needed to make sure and I wanted to hear it come out of your mouth, face to face--"

"And so you did." I looked from his left eye to his right, repeatedly, and smiled. So, Tyler, Mike, Zoe and Lana were involved. Now things made more sense.

His iPhone buzzed and he pulled it out of his pocket with his clean hand. He looked at me and said, "It's Bozie and Brownie, they're wondering I found you."

"I should probably text Lana and Zoe too." I reached for my phone, disconnected it from the charger, and sent texts to both of them individually.

12:38PM- To Lana- Mia: hey girl, Colton and I are at a hotel. Just telling you bc I just saw that you called while my phone was dead.

12:39PM- To Zoe- Mia: i'm with Colton at a Super 8 hotel, just letting you know that we're okay.

12:40PM- Lana: You have a lot of explaining to do when you get back, Missy. I'm glad you two are together, though.

12:40PM- Zoe: omfg you guys are together?? finally! When are you coming back?

I smiled at how different the texts I received were. Lana was always so well organized with proper punctuation and spelling, while Zoe didn't care. I really missed them and I can't wait to tell them everything.

12:41PM- To Lana- Mia: I will when we get back tonight. See you later xo

12:41PM- To Zoe- Mia: yeahh and we're coming later tonight around 6 probably. I'll see you tomorrow most likely tho cuz we won't arrive until 10. Bye girl :)

I sighed and placed my phone down again. Colton was putting the plates and wrappers back on the tray and so I helped him. I left it on the desk and looked back at Colton who was laying down with his arms behind his head. He had turned on the TV and was currently watching The Simpsons on the screen.

"Come here," he patted the space beside him on the bed. I walked over and cuddled close to him. "What do you wanna do today?" he asked.

"I don't know, I don't think I could get tired of this." I glanced out the window. We had a view of the parking lot ahead but also of the buildings further down the street. "Plus, you'll be signing stuff and taking pictures with fans if we go anywhere crowded. I don't wanna put you through a chase-down." I laughed.

"But you'll get bored here and--"

"I like this," I looked up at him and my head rested more comfortably on his shoulder. "We could just watch movies and cartoons before we get on the road."

At that, he smiled. Spending the last few days here was fun and all, but there's no place like home. I could tell that Colton misses Toronto as well. I honestly had no idea what was going to happen with work for me. I doubt the staff would want me back since I left on such short notice.

"Okay, whatever you want." he planted a kiss on my forehead. "But later we're going out to eat."

We laughed at some parts in the show and cracked jokes, as well. Two hours had quickly flown by and I had only noticed it when I got a twitter notification on my phone.

"I have a surprise for you when we get back, by the way." he said during commercial break. "You'll probably find out tomorrow though."

"Now you got me curious!" I whined. He just laughed and I shook my head.

"Can you just tell me?" I sighed.

"No."

"Please!?"

"Nope."

"Colton!" I was getting impatient and I needed to know. "Is it an object or..?"

"It's something that will happen," he smiled. "I got Tyler to handle it."

"Oh, because that definitely makes me less curious." I said sarcastically. "How do you know it will happen?"

"We just do." he hushed me. I groaned and he chuckled. I kept my arms crossed and I couldn't stop thinking about it now.

***

"We're almost there," he said at a red light. It was 5:15PM and Colton had promised to take us out to eat somewhere casual before heading back to Toronto. I asked him multiple times if I should change into something more elegant but he assured that it wasn't a fancy place, since I told him I didn't want to go to any big restaurants. So, i just stayed in my purple shirt and gray jeans. I could have dinner with him literally anywhere and I would still be happy.

"They'd better have a restroom." I mumbled.

"I'm not taking you to the jungle," he laughed aloud once he heard what I had barely spoken clearly. "They obviously have one."

"Are you sure you know where this place is?"

"Positive." he nodded and drove straight down the highway.

"Can I at least have a hint as to where you're taking us?" I glanced at him and he kept his eyes on the road as he made an exit to the left. We were now on the unfamiliar road but now there were houses, gas stations, bars and more buildings around us.

"Your favourite restaurant with your favorite food." he winked. He parked in a parking lot before I had the chance to look up at the sign. I stepped out of the car and shrieked once I saw the red Smitty's letters.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and we walked inside. The male waiter seated us in a booth located in the middle.

Colton scanned through his menu but I kept mine closed, already knowing what to order. Smitty's was the first place I went on a team dinner with the Leafs last season, in Toronto. It was December at that time and Colton was there.

"I can't believe you remembered," I grinned.

"How could I forget you stuffing your mouth with chicken wings?" he snickered.

"Hey!" I threw my napkin at him but he just bursted out laughing. My face turned red and I rolled my eyes. He continued laughing even harder at my current reaction and I couldn't hold it in anymore so I laughed too. Colton looked like he was about to cry from snickering and giggling which caused me to laugh at him, now.

"Grhm," the same waiter coughed as he stood beside our table. We put our hands in front of our mouths to stop ourselves and slouched down in the leather seats. "Have you decided?" he asked us.

"I think so," Colton closed his menu and looked over at me.

"Um, can I get an iced tea and mild chicken wings with tomato sauce?" I requested. The waiter smiled and nodded as he scribbled something on a small notebook.

"And for her gentleman?"

"BBQ chicken wings for me, and.." Colton thought for a second. "And a Coca Cola."

The waiter left with our menus and went back to the counter. Colton and I chatted in the meantime and caught up with each other's lives. My life had just been the same until two months ago, so there wasn't much to say. We continued to ask random questions once our drinks arrived first. I took a sip of his Cola and he drank some of my Iced Tea.

Once our meals arrived, we dug in without saying anything. We filled our hungry stomachs up and every once in a while laughed at each other's dirty mouths and fingers, immaturely.

I basically spent the whole time giggling like a maniac but I wasn't insecure around him at all. I ate in a messy way and got sauce all over the plate and on my glass, too.

"Some things just don't change," Colton wiped his mouth with a napkin while looking at me, smiling, as I licked my fingers.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I squinted my eyes at him. I picked up my large glass and took a few long gulps.

"You eat chicken wings the same way you did when I first sat across from you at a restaurant." he smirked and put his fingers together.

"Cheers, to chicken wings." I held up my iced tea. He smiled we clicked them together.

After we finished everything and spent another ten minutes talking, he called the waiter over again.

"Let me pay," I opened my purse.

"Yeah, when the world ends." he chuckled and placed his card on the table.

"I wanna at least pay a part of it," I insisted. He had already paid for the hotel and spent lots of time plus effort on me over the last few days.

"That's not the way I was raised," he smiled politely. He paid the full price and left a 30% tip for the waiter that served us.

He held my jacket and I put my hands through the holes. We waved goodbye at the waiters and stepped outside. The sky had become darker and the air got colder. Before I walked to the passenger side, he wrapped his arms around my waist. I faced him and he pulled me into a warm hug. We stood there for about a minute even though it felt like hours.

I pulled my head back from his upper chest and then leaned in toward his lips. I put my hand behind his head and he placed his hand on my cheek. We kissed gently at first and then more passionately. It didn't even feel cold out anymore.

"Ready to go?" he rubbed his thumb along my left cheekbone. It was 7:40 since we had spent a bit longer than planned in the restaurant, and I knew he was referring to going back to Toronto now.

"Mhm," I smiled and looked into his eyes once more.

"I want you to come to my house," he swallowed. He paused moving his thumb and waited for me to say something.

"I.. your house?"

"Yeah," he flashed a light smile. "I wanna wake up beside you."

My whole body almost melted at those words. If it wasn't for his arm wrapped around me, I think I would have fallen.

Waking up beside him this morning made me feel amazing. Last night was also amazing and tonight was more than what I could ask for. All I wanted was to spend nights out like these with him, or nights in bed too, just as long as he was with me.

I swear my thoughts were unhealthy and I was already getting attached, but it all felt so good. I spent way too long doubting him and doubting myself, but I honestly think it was for the best, mostly.

It all led to this and I was dying to know what the future holds.

"Okay," I pulled his head in again and put my forehead against his for a moment. "Me too." I agreed.
